5 Loaves 2 Fish, Neutral Bay
A new brunch hotspot has just opened its doors in Sydney’s lower North Shore. 5 Loaves 2 Fish is a great new cafe in Neutral Bay that is sure to attract both locals and visitors alike with its brilliant coffee, delightful staff and exceptional food.
Being just a short stroll away from the main Military Road strip, we decided to head over the bridge to see what all the locals were raving about. The cafe is beautifully designed featuring contemporary décor and an all-white interior. Adding to the welcoming atmosphere is the ridiculously friendly staff who seem to be on a first-name basis with at least half its customers.
But what about the food? The menu at 5 Loaves 2 Fish is carefully crafted and pushes the boundaries for standard cafe fare. With a unique mix of Modern Australian with underlying influences from Korea and South East Asia, there are some incredible dishes to enjoy here. For breakfast (served until 3pm), there’s Toast, Bacon & Egg Roll, Granola, Corn Fritters, Homemade Labneh, and White Truffle Scrambled Eggs.
Our favourite – Smashed Avocado – is also available and we just couldn’t resist giving it a try. The avocado on toast is loaded with heirloom tomatoes, pepitas, Danish feta and white truffle infused salt flakes. It’s hard to go wrong with this one – we found it to be absolutely delicious and managed to lick our plate clean. We also sampled the Green Bowl and found it to be an outstanding dish. Featuring sautéed greens served on toasted sourdough with almond and pepitas, dukkah, avocado, soft boiled egg and chimichurri, this one was just full of flavour and highly nutritious to boot.
Furthermore, there’s an assortment of lunch options on the menu including the Crispy Grilled Salmon, Loaded Lamb Meatballs, Turmeric Spiced Chicken, some salads, and some delicious Spicy Fish Tacos which we decided to devour. Featuring spiced grilled barramundi with cabbage slaw, herbs, lime crema and tomato salsa, these were fresh and clean with just the right amount of spice.
