ABBA In Japan
When ABBA made their first visit to Japan in November 1978, they were not household names there. Ten days later, upon their departure to Sweden, the group had made such an impact on the Japanese population that they received a hero's farewell by thousands of fans at Narita International Airport .It was on this trip that ABBA filmed a television special extravaganza that was instrumental in turning the Japanese into a nation of ABBA lovers. This legendary television special 'ABBA In Japan' is now released on DVD for the first time, complete with remastered stereo sound. 'ABBA In Japan' also comes with two bonus selections. The first is the fascinating fly-on-the-wall documentary 'ABBA In Japan Nov. 1978', which covers the group's visit at the time of the television special. The second is the performance of their hit 'If It Wasn't For The Nights' but with the original mix, as featured in the broadcast. (In 1978, the song hadn't been released on record yet and it was subject to further mixes by ABBA, before finally being issued on the Voulez-Vous album in 1979).ABBA is one of the biggest selling acts of all time, in Australia and, indeed, the World. CD sales in this country are in the multi millions. In 2009 alone, back catalogue sales of ABBA albums have exceeded 200,000 copies proving that Australians still can't get enough of ABBA.
