Fresh from a successful two months of gigs across four states,
indie pop rockers Avalon Drive have just unleashed 'The View From Afar' - their
brand new EP. The EP release caps off a highly successful year for the Brisbane
four-piece so far, which saw them also being crowned the winners of the second
Tooheys Extra Dry uncharTED competition.
"It's been stressful, hectic
and amazing," guitarist Shane O'Keeffe describes the writing process. "It's
definitely a more mature sound than what has been heard from previous Avalon Drive."
Adds singer Damion Page, "We have really put our hearts into this EP and
couldn't be prouder."
'The View From Afar' was recorded with Matt Bartlem
(The Butterfly Effect) and mixed by Forrester Savell (Karnivool, Mammal). The
first single from the EP is the infectious 'Last One Standing' which has just
hit the airwaves.
Prior to taking out uncharTED, Avalon Drive spent much
of their career on the road, touring with bands including INXS, The Veronicas,
Fall Out Boy, All American Rejects, Yellowcard and Matchbook Romance. They also
did a stint as ROVE's houseband in 2006!
"Avalon Drive are arguably
Brisbane's Next Big Thing in the commercial arena" (Rave magazine)
"The
most promising rock act on the Australian scene" (Beat magazine)
"For
sharp, polished, high-octane rock how can you go past Avalon Drive? They have
kick-ass
songs that stick in your head for weeks." (Kirsty Brown,
National Street Press)
"Avalon Drive is a band with all the ingredients
in place; the songs, the sound, the live energy
and the look." (Mark
Bulgin, Myspace)
'The View From Afar' is out now.
