Barnaby was founded by former management consultant colleagues Shay Namdarian, Andrei Maior and David Tay, whom are all Melbourne lads that have their eye firmly set on the growing Australian fashion scene. The Barnaby team recognised a gap in Australia’s fashion accessories market for mid-priced men’s fashion socks. The Barnaby boys wanted to create an affordable, colourful, quality sock that allows men to subtly add colour and personality to an outfit.
Entering into the fashion industry is not for the faint hearted, however the Barnaby boys know their product sets itself apart from the crowd. Barnaby’s unique design point of difference is the button, at the top of one sock, which can be used to button the matching pair of socks together. Genius! Barnaby has also designed a unique packaging concept that features the Barnaby logo with a see‐through face that acts as a peephole to the sock inside. This clever packaging will make them an easy stocking filler come Christmas time. Barnaby socks are made from high quality combed cotton blend and the first SS13 collection consists of 10 differing patterns including; Cornelius (Yellow polka dots & Navy Stripe), Horton (Elephant on Blue), Hugo (Green Stripe on Blue), Niles (Navy Blue Stripe on Pink), Oscar (White Polka Dot on Black), Rufus (Navy with Blue & pink detail), Sherman (White Bicycles on Navy), Winston (Argyle in Purple, Pink & Grey), Xavier (Pink Polka Dot on Navy) and the YGAP Collaboration (YGAP colours & tetris squares). The Barnaby socks are designed and named after a variety of inspiring sources including famous people such as Winston Churchill and characters like Dr Suess’ Horton. The socks are 70% combed cotton, 25% polyester, 5% elastane and include one hand stitched button. Each pair of Barnaby socks has a fantastic price point of RRP AUD$15 each. Barnaby have partnered with YGAP – Y Generation against Poverty www.ygap.com.au ‐ to try and build up already growing social awareness for the charity. YGAP’S mission is to inspire social entrepreneurs to end poverty through youth education and youth leadership. Barnaby aims to raise proceeds and awareness for this great cause.
