Swedish-based
beauty, Emilia de Poret is a talent impossible to ignore. With three successful
albums under her designer belt, the world's top producers on speed dial and a
sense of creativity that knows no limits, it's no wonder they call her the 'Countess
of Pop.' Emilia's third album, Pick Me Up, was produced by songwriter/producer
Arnthor Birgisson (the man behind the successful hits of Jennifer Lopez, Enrique
Iglesias, Shane Ward and Janet Jackson) and mixed by Phil Tan (responsible for
mixing top hits for Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Ne-Yo and Mariah Carey). The album
combines personal ballads, high-tempo clubby tunes and pop to encompass Emilia's
unique range as a singer. Pick Me Up mirrors Emilia's highenergy personality providing
a canvas of intense emotions.
The latest single to be released, "This
Ain't A Love Song", features collaboration with wildly popular Japanese hip-hop
star and AMBUSH designer Verbal (Teryaki Boyz, M-Flo). Working alongside international
superstars like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams, it was only a matter of time
before Emilia snapped him up. Making his debut in 1999 as a member of the Hip/Hop
R&B group, M-Flo, the trio (consisting of Verbal, Taku and Lisa) released
two albums to heavy praise. By 2003, M-Flo had reinvented itself as a duo, making
noise on the Japanese charts with their albums, Astromantic, Beat Space Nine and
Cosmicolour (all of which charted in the top ten).
ON THE VIDEO CLIP
Shot
in Tokyo, Japan, the video clip was directed by four-time Swedish Grammy award
nominee, Marcus Lundin (whose credits include Kat DeLuna, Adam Tensta, Darin,
Lazee and Infinite Mass). Emilia trapezes across Tokyo's hottest locations including
The Peninsula Hotel and Trump Lounge and treads on dangerous ground in the Shinjuku
neighbourhood (Despite desperate pleas from the crew's guides not to shoot in
this district as the Japanese mafia are known to take camera equipment from foreign
film crews and sell it back for ludicrous amounts of money, the Emilia machine
ploughed on). The clip embodies feelings of escapism, meshing the bittersweet
emotions of new experiences and alienation against a 90s flavoured backdrop.
