LATEST NEWS…BIG DAY OUT 2012: THE LOWDOWN: Big Day Out is amongst one of the most recognised festivals in the world. Returning to Sydney on Australia Day with headliners such as Soundgarden and Kanye West, organisers had a few other tricks up their sleeve. Entertainment didn't just present itself in the form of live music; pro skater Tony Hawk was in fine form, proving that he can still shred in his early forties. Australian bands Stonefield and Frenzal Rhomb did their nation proud on Australia Day being noted as some of the highlights of the day. For New Zealand, it was Big Day Out's last hoorah as the festival has already announced it will not be returning. Despite good reviews, attendance numbers are dropping. In 2010 Big Day attracted over 337,000 fans, last year's shows drew 300,000 punters, while this year the festival sold just over 173,000 tickets…SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH: After a 33 year break from releasing an album, Black Sabbath announced their comeback fittingly on the 11/11/11. The original band members are set to record a new studio album - their first with Ozzy Osbourne since 1978. Since the announcement, it seems as though black magic has plagued the band. Tony Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma last month resulting in relocating recording sessions to London and pulling out of a planned Coachella headlining slot. Now it is drummer Bill Ward who seems to be having management difficulties after releasing a long statement indicating he will not be apart of the reunion unless he is offered a "signable contract" that "reflects some dignity and respect toward me as an original member of the band." Let's hope Ward gets the contract he desires so they can get on with it and we get Sabbath back…JACK WHITE ANNOUNCES DEBUT SOLO ALBUM: Almost a year ago, Jack & Meg White shattered the music world announcing that they would no longer be recording or performing live together. A man who will never remain silent has just unveiled his new solo single 'Love Interruption' and announced the release of his debut solo album. The 23rd of April marks the date of White's return when his debut solo album 'Blunderbuss' hits the shelves. Produced by White at his Third Man Studio in Nashville, White describes 'Blunderbuss' as "an album I couldn't have released until now… I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colours on my own canvas."…TRIPLE J'S HOTTEST 100: Another Australia Day means another Hottest 100 count down, an event that most musically minded Australians listen to. With 44 local songs on the list, it seems that home grown music is a force to be reckoned with. O r is it that we are growing even more patriotic as a nation? My trust lies in the talent. It comes as no surprise that Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know' claimed the number one position, closely followed by The Black Keys with 'Lonely Boy' coming in second and Australian Idol's prize possession, Matt Corby's 'Brother' being voted number three. The voting process is a long and stressful journey; I admire the people who have the time to contribute to an event that makes Australia Day one hell of a party…THE BRONX SIDE PROJECT: For those who have not seen or heard of The Bronx, you would not believe that Mariachi El Bronx are their side project - that is if the Bronx part at the end doesn't give it away for you. The Bronx supported Soundgarden at Sydney Entertainment Centre just an hour before performing their own Big Day Out sideshow as Mariachi El Bronx. Matt Caughthran's voice transition is surprisingly sweet. They performed in front of a full house at The Metro Theatre, a place they stated as their home venue in Sydney. Completely stripped of rebellion and their punk rock style, they have stayed true to the Southern Californian origin with their heavy Mariachi influence obvious, dressed to the nines in traditional Mariachi costume. One must witness both live acts for themselves, depending on your mood at the time…COACHELLA 2012: Coachella's line up is enough to make one physically and emotionally sick with either excitement (if you had the cash to buy flights and tickets) or depression if you are dirt poor and committed to work or study Down Under. Coachella is held in Indio, California around the end of April each year. This year, a second weekend has been added, but we all know the first weekend is the one you want to be at. Headlining this mammoth bill are The Black Keys, Radiohead, Dr Dre and Snoop Dog. If you are already foaming at the mouth, check out the full line up. It is an upper to some but a downer to most who cannot make it. www.coachella.com...THE MAN IN BLACK - THE JOHNNY CASH STORY: Being a Cash fan from way back and having already toured with The Johnny Cash Story in 2010 and 2011, Tex Perkins & The Tennessee Four are returning showcasing two hours of Cash's legendary music interwoven with the story of his rise to fame, his struggle for survival, and his eventual redemption. Both Cash and Perkins have the baritone voices making Perkins the perfect candidate to perform faithful renditions of Cash's hits while he tells Cash's story in the third person between songs. Perkins' 27 years in the industry has equipped him with one hell of a back catalogue, with a capturing stage presence and voice similar to the man himself. Who else should pay homage to Johnny Cash but Tex Perkins?...VICE LAUNCH CHATEAU RDIO: Get two words - radio and audio, join them together and you get Rdio: pronounced ar-dee-o. Being solely about the music, you could find a DJ in every room or a free drink at every bar…A TRIBUTE TO SOUL SISTERS: Sydney singers Jo Elms, Liza Ohlback and Kim Hart are back by popular demand after sell-out performances of their "First Ladies of Soul" tour in June 2011. MTV MOVIE AWARDS GIRL PASH

It's been a long time since the Britney and Madonna pash at the MTV Music Awards - several years infact. What's an MTV awards ceremony without a bit of girl on girl action? This year, recently single Sandra Bullock pashed Scarlett Johannson in a highly scripted but saucy exchange while Scarlett presented Sandra with her 'MTV Generation Award.' Who knows what that award was for - the whole night is just an excuse for skimpy outfits and over-the-top PDAs. Also pashing at the awards were Kristin Stewart and Rob Pattinson who won 'Best Kiss' for the second year in a row for the Twilight Saga. Awwww.

FANS ORGANISE PILGRIMAGE TO JACKSON'S TOMB

Michael Jackson fans have organised a pilgrimage to his tomb on the first anniversary of the King of Pop's death on June 25. The fan group 'Justice4MJ' have planned to visit Forest Lawn Cemetery where Jackson is entombed, with one member stating "nothing will stop us from being with MJ on the 25th." Representatives from Forest Lawn Cemetery say they have not yet devised a plan for the anniversary of Jackson's death but will be consulting with the Jackson family. Knowing the Jacksons, fans will probably play a large part in a service at the cemetery. Considering the name of this large fan group, the doctor responsible for Jackson's death should probably hire his own security on the 25th!

ANGELINA JOLIE TURNS 35

Wow, it seems like just yesterday that Angie shot to stardom playing a drug-addicted model in the movie 'Gia'. It was actually 11 years ago. She also received her Oscar for Best Supporting actress in 1999 for her brilliant portrayal of a manipulative mentally ill woman in 'Girl Interrupted'. Since then, Angie has married and divorced the eccentric Billy Bob Thornton, adopted a kid, become a United Nations Ambassador, settled down with the world's hottest man, and collected five more kids. She has still found the time to make a whole lot of great movies and get a gazillion tattoos. So, to the world's most famous MILF, we salute you! Happy 35th Birthday Ms Jolie!

MAN-HATING MUSO MARRIES

Attention all man-haters, your leader Alanis Morrisette has betrayed you. Just kidding. Alanis, 36, married fellow musician Mario Treadway AKA 'Souleye' (who?), 30, in an intimate ceremony with family and friends at their LA home, one week before Alanis' 36th birthday. Alanis confirmed the news on her Twitter page stating, 'So happy to share with you that my man Souleye and I got married.' We're guessing Souleye is in it for the long haul since hell hath no fury like Alanis scorned. We're sure he doesn't want her to sing 'You Oughta Know' at him while brandishing a baseball bat. OK, maybe she's calmed down a bit!

GLEE'S 'SUE SYLVESTER' TIES THE KNOT

Also recently married is hilarious actress Jane Lynch who plays Sue Sylvester in the hit TV series Glee. She plays a teacher with anger-management problems and in real life has married her psychologist girlfriend Lara Embry. Lynch and her partner had a simple ceremony at a restaurant in Massachusetts. Lynch wore a crisp elegant white shirt and black pants, while her bride wore a simple white cocktail dress. There were no other celebrities at the wedding for close family and friends, but sources say the ceremony was 'warm, intimate and sweet.' Showing a soft spot not often displayed by her onscreen character Sue, Lynch gushed 'it's just the greatest thrill in the world to find somebody that you want to be with every day. Nawww.

FERGIE IS AN AVON LADY

'Wholesome' beauty label Avon is trying to be edgy by collaborating with Fergie for her first ever fragrance 'Outspoken.' The Black Eyed Peas singer posed in skimpy outfits in a racy photoshoot to promote the perfume. The fragrance (if you're interested) features notes of blackberry, starfruit, saffron, jasmine, passion flower, ebony and black leather. Fergie describes the fragrance as 'very rock n roll.' If the fragrance is successful, it may be released in Australia, but you can always find it online if you're keen. It's sure to help get that guy 'loved up on your humps.' Whoever will they recruit next? May we suggest porn star Jenna Jameson? That would truly be edgy!

'GOSSIP' GUY A POTHEAD

Gossip Girl's Chace Crawford who plays broody hottie Nate on the hit show was arrested early this month for possession of marijuana. He posted bail and was quickly released. Considering the fact that so many Hollywood celebs are dying from prescription drug overdoses or in and out of rehab for crack addiction, Chace is just a lightweight. Marijuana is much less likely to kill you although it could lead to you acting a bit like Joaquin Phoenix - which is almost as bad.

AMANDA SEYFRIED SINGLE

Gorgeous 'Mean Girls' actress Amanda Seyfried has split from her British boyfriend of two years, her Mamma Mia! co-star Dominic Cooper. According to reports the pair remain 'best friends.' Cooper was spotted at the Cannes film festival with his arm around none other than Amanda's Mean Girls co-star Lyndsay Lohan. The couple had tried to maintain a long distance relationship via Skype, but like so many other celeb couples who live in separate continents, another one bites the dust!

CELINE DION IS PREGNANT

42-year-old diva Celine Dion is the latest celeb in her forties to get the good news that she is expecting twins. The singer and her really old husband, manager Rene Angelil conceived with IVF. The star also credits regular acupuncture sessions with helping her fall pregnant. The couple already has a nine-year-old son Rene-Charles, so we're guessing at least one of the babies will be named Celine. Good for them!

SEX LADIES ADMIT TENSION

With the final installment (we think) of the 'Sex & the City' movie done and dusted, 'Sex & the City's' leading ladies have finally admitted there was tension between them on the hit show and film set. 'Sex & the City 2' producer SJP, who has been accused of bullying co-star Kim Catrall stated, 'There are times when all of us have been sensitive, and sometimes feelings get hurt … but I don't have any regrets about how I've treated people.' Cynthia Nixon (Miranda) agrees, adding 'It hasn't always been smooth sailing.' However, Kristin Davis (Charlotte) put a recent rumour to rest about her refusing to eat at the same table of a restaurant as Kim Cattrall. "[One tabloid story] said Kim and I would eat in the restaurant and not sit together," the actress says. "Ridiculous!"
