HOODOO
GURUS
Purity Of Essence Tour
The mighty
Hoodoo Gurus are back with their ninth studio album 'Purity Of Essence' and to
mark this auspicious occasion they will do what they do best: hit the road and
perform like they have done for many a decade, exciting fans across the globe
with a live show to rock you to your core and leave you aching for more!
The
Gurus exist in their own time and space. They have been a part of the Australian
music psyche since they brought us classic songs like 'Tojo', 'My Girl' and 'I
Want You Back' from the 'Stoneage Romeos'-era and from 'Mars Needs Guitars' 'Bittersweet',
'Death Defying' or 'Like Wow - Wipeout!'. Throw in '1000 Miles Away', 'Waking
Up Tired' and 'The Right Time', and more than 100 other songs they have written,
recorded and played that have meant something to someone some time and there is
no denying that on record or live, they ARE Oz rock royalty.
Dave Faulkner
and his band mates, guitarist Brad Shepherd, bassist Rick Grossman and drummer
Mark Kingsmill, have been going strong, again, since reuniting in late-2003 after
almost six years apart.
Borrowed from the band's favourite movie, Stanley
Kubrick's 'Dr Strangelove Or How I Stopped Worrying And Learned To Love The Bomb',
'Purity Of Essence' features the first single, 'Crackin' Up', a song so quintessentially
'Gurus' that you just know the album that follows MUST be good. The second single
to be released from the album is 'I Hope Your Happy' which is lighting up radio
around the country and was recently announced as the 4th most added song at radio!
'Purity
Of Essence' was born in one of those mythical bursts of unbridled creativity;
that serendipitous moment when lightning strikes and the songs happen. So now,
another page in the Gurus history is about to unfold as they reveal an album that,
by all accounts, is one of the best to date and announce a national tour to showcase
the new tracks and of course, play the Hoodoo Gurus classics we all know and love
.
and which makes for one hell of a cracking live show!
With support from
brand spanking new band The Break, featuring Midnight Oil's Rob Hirst, Martin
Rotsey and Jim Moginie, along with The Violent Femmes bass man Brian Ritche. The
Break feature the pounding go-go rhythms of Hirst and Ritchie that perfectly underpin
Moginie and Rostsey's signature zip locked twin guitar attack. Classic surf, Sci
Fi, and spy tones resonate whilst managing to present a fresh and contemporary
approach bringing their own take on the instrumental surf sound on the road for
'The Purity Of Essence' tour.
