DAGO II: Now with Noodles
'Wok boy' joins the IL DAGO all-star line-up!
Following
the sell-out smash hit comedy event IL DAGO, the boys are back with an all-new
show, 'now with noodles', to present the next instalment of the hit show, which
was one of the most talked about comedy events of the last few years. IL DAGO
II: Now with Noodles, starring George Kapiniaris, Joe Avati, and Simon Palomares,
is preparing to add some spice when they are joined by 'wok boy' Jason Chong.
Australia's
brightest stars of the ethnic comedy scene became overnight sensations after being
one of the most talked about acts at the 2007 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Hundreds of thousands of people all around Australia, from the public to media,
politicians to celebrities, caught the IL DAGO bug for two years with the boy's
hilarious stories about living in multi-cultural Australia.
Now, in 2010,
new to the IL DAGO man-cave is award-winning comedian Jason Chong who is guaranteed
to have audiences laughing hysterically with his string of stories about living
as an Asian in Australia. Add to that all new stories about songs about Joe Avati's
Italian antipasto of pickled grandmothers and roasted uncles; Simon's tapas selection
of emo children and all things Espanol; and George's always energetic display
of what it's like to grow up with lamb on the spit and other colourful tales from
the Greek columns of Australian society, and you're sure to experience what will
be the comedy smash-hit of 2010.
This year, celebrating 25-years of showbiz
together, George Kapiniaris and Simon Palomares helped pioneer the always popular
ethnic comedy genre in the mid '80s as the Tiboldi Brothers through to the early
'90s with what is still a cult television classic today, Acropolis Now. They also
starred in the longest running comedy show in Australian theatre history, Wogs
out of Work, which ran for four years. Since then, the genre has grown both in
industry and popularity, to become one of the most sought after comedy experiences
today.
Both producer and star of IL DAGO I & II, Joe Avati has put
his own stamp on the industry after leading the way in ethnic comedy in North
America. Joe earned the number one spot for 18-months on the Canadian HMV comedy
charts for his CD "Live and Unpluggato", and sold out a 2000-seat Toronto
Centre for the Arts show in just nine minutes. Since then, in 2009, Joe has co-hosted
his first TV spot on "Food Investigators", produced various comedy shows
around the country, and is currently exploring more TV and movie options both
at home and internationally.
To complete the IL Divo-esque line-up, like
athletes before an energetic sporting event, Jason confesses he eats a bowl of
noodles before every performance. This ritual has seen Jason rise to the top of
the comedy ladder since 2001. Recently named "2009 Adelaide Comedian of the
Year" Jason Chong is sought-after on TV and radio all over the country, and
has been tagged as 'brilliant' and 'one of the country's top comedians' by the
Australian press. He was also given four stars by one of the country's top newspapers.
IL
DAGO II: NOW WITH NOODLES kicks off in NSW on April 5, Victoria on April 28, and
