How
did you get your start in the music industry?
After studying
Audio Engineering and then Music Business, I worked in corporate events as a techy.
My foray into promoting pretty much started the way many others do: by accident,
after one legendary house party.
Best part of the job?
No two days are the same. Making heaps of new friends. Watching something you've
hatched in your brain become a reality. Not having a boring robot job. Being supported
by a brand like Smirnoff with encouragement.
Worst part
of the job?
Can be very stressful. Proving yourself when
starting out can be very hard; reputation is paramount in this business.
Any
interesting experiences you can share?
Probably one party
put on in a loading dock at UTS with 800 kids turning up to see Grafton Primary
and John Steele Singers. Also being involved in promoting some of the earliest
or first ever shows for acts like Snob Scrilla, Art vs Science, Philadelphia Grand
Jury and Seekae is really rewarding.
Favourite album of
all time and why?
I have like five! I love Massive Attack's
'100th Window' as it's so futuristic while still hugely melodic. Deftones' 'White
Pony' or anything by Devin Townsend or Radiohead get honourable mentions.
Tell
us about the best live show that you ever saw?
Well I'm
currently following Faith No More over four shows across two states so I'd have
to say that! They've been amazing. Daft Punk and Massive Attack also win for huge
visual shows.
Favourite bars/clubs/pubs to hang out in?
World
Bar, Q Bar, or the Metro are great. Berlin bar in Melbourne rules also.
Take
us through a typical "day in the life of Julian Ramundi".
Wake.
Attempt world domination. Sleep. Repeat.
What advice
would you give to someone looking at getting involved in the music industry?
Be
nice. Try things out. Put on a gig or club night for your friends to go to; it's
the best way to make contacts and a huge learning process. Do NOT listen to what
they say. Eat your greens.
Any news or final comments?
Tarantino never went to film school.
