Katie Noonan has always traversed genres and styles
over her career, the one mainstay has been her voice, and with the reincarnation
of her gold selling debut solo album 'Skin' it's no different. Working
with a fresh perspective on this remix version of 'Skin', it's just
another chapter in her career to date. Be prepared to be uplifted with
the sophisticated sounds of John Course and mrTimothy present Katie
Noonan 'Second Skin'.
"I've always been keen on getting out of my comfort zone and
trying new musical environments," Noonan says. "I've done
lots of different things while still trying to maintain my sense of
self as a performer", and working with John Course & mrTimothy
has brought a new angle to the songs that embodied the 'Skin' album.
Titled 'Second Skin', the album contains all twelve tracks from 'Skin',
re-sequenced, re-edited and remixed by two of the leading dance producers
in Australia, John Course & mrTimothy. Taking the sensual, uplifting
and inspiring tones of renowned singer, Katie Noonan, 'Second Skin'
adds a further layer of sophistication and connection for the listener,
while not losing any of the intimacy of the original 'Skin' album.
'Second Skin' highlights Katie's trademark vocals and melodies, combining
them with a new energy and direction.
A BRIEF BACKGROUND ON
KATIE NOONAN
Katie Noonan has the kind of voice grown men weep for, the kind of
voice that seems to come directly from her heart rather than her lungs.
She has topped both the pop and jazz charts, blown away opera fanatics,
performed alongside countless luminaries of myriad fields, and backs
it all up by being an incredible songwriter, producer and keyboardist
in her own right.
As co-lead singer of critically acclaimed Brisbane band george, Katie
first found public favour when their debut, double platinum album
Polyserena made its grand arrival at the very top of the ARIA charts
and earned them the Best New Artist ARIA Award (followed nicely by
the gold-selling second top ten album, 'Unity'). Not content to develop
a little box to reside in, Katie effortlessly continued the trend
with her accomplished jazz trio Elixir, debuting at number 24 in the
ARIA charts and staying in the top 30 for five weeks in 2003.
Katie's recent solo album 'Skin' heralded an exciting new chapter
in her creative output and officially went Gold (selling in excess
of 35,000 copies) early 2008, after debuting at #1 on the National
Australian Artist ARIA Charts.
JOHN COURSE
A leading DJ and figure in Australian dance music, John first rose
to prominence when he won the DMC Mixing Competition in Victoria in
1988 (which he again won in 1989). Vicious, the record label that
John co-owns, was established in 1990 and has been at the forefront
of the Australian Dance scene since its inception. As well as concentrating
on the business side of music, John continued to build his DJing throughout
Australia, beginning a residency at One Love Melbourne back in 2001
and playing regularly outside of his home state of Victoria. John
is widely known for his remixing work with the Ministry Of Sound releases
over the past few years.
mrTIMOTHY
He first started his career DJing as a 15 year old [he's about 2x
that now] and has an eclectic background in music from Soul, RnB,
Funk & Disco back in the day, through to Electro, Vocal House
and Deeper tracks that he loves to play today. Having engineered,
programmed & co-produced on artist releases for Madonna, INXS,
Felix Da House Cat, E Smoove, Cher, Brandy, Craig David & Steve
Silk Hurley, Mr Timothy is one of Australia's quiet achievers.
'Second Skin' is out now.
