KIT
& KABOODLE: CLUB REVIEW
Think sheer clubbing decadence.
Think of inoculation with the most eloquent of liquid treats. Think arousing design
invented by the industry's most skilled deliverers of nightlife delicacies. Now
visualise, realise and customise yourself to a new standard of delight. Kit and
Kaboodle is a wholesome pleasure for the children of the night!
Perched
stealthily above the new Sugarmill hotel in downtown Kings Cross, this latest
and highly anticipated addition to Sydney's saturated dark side has been crafted
and cut to shine brighter than the rest of the rough.
Looks
Like = Cataclysmic kitsch poise. Level one is a sweltering shade of red. Tinkering
oriental antiquities are curious catalysts for the Ferrari designed leather lounges,
leopard stretches, and the zebra painted piano that houses the decks. Take a walk
to level two and you will find luxury expanded in Audrey Hepburn style, fitted
to our modern fascinations. Jaded only in shade, trimmed in velvet and white leather
this level is coutured to please the most refined of tastes. And taste you shall
Tastes
Like = Fascinating froth. Let your inner vamp be pampered with a foaming cocktail.
The Forbidden Fruit of the cocktail list comes with a soft passionfruit meringue
dessert served in your drink. If this isn't your thing try the ultra refreshing
Crouching Tiger- Burnt lemon, Kaffir Lime and coriander complement the delicate
flavours of Tanqueray 10 gin. Served in a long glass topped with crushed ice and
Australian ginger ale it's the perfect companion to a summer night in the city.
You'll be pleased to know that salvation from the fast food pushers of the strip
has arrived - Kit and Kaboodle serves food until 5am. Snacks include grilled haloumi,
almond crusted lamb cutlets, chargrilled king prawns, crispy duck skin pancake
rolls and mini wagyu burgers. Oral opiates for a midnight palate.
Dress
Like = Suspiciously stylish. Anything from arthouse comfs, trendy hightops
to high fashion pumps. Fashionistas, rockers and trendsetters get it on for a
night of opulent frolicking. The iconic high life of Kings Cross comes in all
kinds of inclination and Kit and Kaboodle cradles them all.
Sounds
Like = The avante garde brink of dance agendas. Modular have stepped on the
scene to mastercraft the party mayhem. This music label was born in the era were
amyl nitrate waned in moist air - not Britney's latest scent. Party powders were
passed inconspicuously under noses rather than applied repeatedly to glowering
cheeks in front of crammed bathroom mirrors, people were blinded by disco lights
not camera flashes and the dance floor purveyed a sense of movement - not stagnant
posing. Seems they learnt a few tricks along the way from the likes of The Presets,
the Bang Gang boys, Van She, Cut Copy, Muscles and Tame Impala (to name just a
few). This will all go to good use as Modular set out to create a new and exclusive
kind of party confection at Kit and Kaboodle in 2009. Iced with a thumping cream
of electro talent, this is one cupcake you don't want to feed to Grandma.
Recently
various venues around the city have been struck with 2am venue lock outs and other
licensing restrictions. It remains to be seen how putting more people on the streets
will reduce drunken street violence - especially when 2am is the taxi witching
hour - but it's good to know that Kit and Kaboodle is restriction free. You can
wait for the taxis to return in stylish accommodation but be warned - once you've
taken a bite out of this party pleasure, you won't be wanting to be going home.
Kit and Kaboodle is just way too good of a treat!
