How
did you get your start in the music industry?
Music has
always been a part of my life. I started at the Johnny Young Talent School and
can still remember my first concert dancing to the Conga in my pink and lime green
outfit (it was so cool back then) and afterwards Johnny Young came out and presented
each of us with a certificate, I was so thrilled I'd met a celebrity.
Best
part of the job?
Hearing feedback about your music, knowing
that your music has reached the lives of others and meeting your fans. I enjoy
being out there and being able to express myself through my music, its good therapy.
Hehe, not saying that I need therapy now...
Worst
part of the job?
Nothing to recall so far ... but if I
had to find a part of the job to complain about, it would be maybe getting up
at the crack of dawn to do breakfast radio interviews. I love my doona and if
taken away, I'm not always the best morning person (Marina laughs), but a nice
cup of tea and a wakeup call from my publicist and I'm generally right to go.
Any interesting experiences you can share?
When
we filmed the video clip for 'Rockstar' in Sydney earlier this year, at the hotel
room I stayed at, one of my mates was making her bed. Anyway, it was hilarious
- this cockroach was hiding between her sheets and as she was fluffing round with
the sheets, the cockroach flew up in the air practically clinging for dear life
and it just missed her head and smacked into the wall. We couldn't sleep after
that... I can't remember if it was because we were still laughing tears or petrified
of what's crawling beneath our sheets!
Favourite album
of all time and why?
Apart from the 'Grease' soundtrack,
I love Roxette. I still have a cassette tape of them from when I was younger,
dancing around the living room and jumping off the couch acting the superstar.
I bought their Greatest Hits album when I finally upgraded my system and purchased
a CD player and it is always one of those CDs I can put on and still enjoy.
Tell
us about the best live show that you ever saw?
Linkin Park
at Rod Laver Arena (2007). The atmosphere and energy was amazing! I have never
heard a crowd roar that loud. I also enjoyed "Slash's Birthday" at the
Bare pool and lounge at the Mirage Hotel, Las Vegas (2008). There was a lot of
energy and it blew me away. Fergie from Black Eyed Peas took the stage and helped
celebrate his birthday and performed a number of Guns N' Roses tracks whilst spinning
round the stage doing one-handed cartwheels and then the after party... well what
happens in Vegas stays in Vegas!
