MC IMMUNE How did you get your start in the music industry? I started making music at high school under the influence and instruction of my older brothers. But later I started working with Down Under Beats Crew and we won a nationwide radio competition in 2004, which was a huge kick into the industry Best part of the job? Would have to be performing and touring for sure! Being paid to rap and have fun.Worst part of the job? Having to rely on a certain board of people approving your music for national radio play, hoping they will decide my music is "accessible", "acceptable" and part of the aesthetic they are making out of the national music scene. It is almost a decision you have to make as a rap artist to conform to that particular aesthetic and make music that you think "fits the radio bill" because they only play a particular "sound" of australian hip-hop. Or you can make original music that genuinely sounds different and risk it flying over the heads of this certain board of people and thus missing the entire country as a result...that is the worst part of the job for sure...Any interesting experiences you can share? I was at a high profile socialite bullshit party in Avalon and I saw a certain liberal politician taking drugs with a friend of mine... word! I cannot afford the legal fees to name any names ... do many people read this shit? Favourite CD of all time and why? Either "Return of the Boom Bap" by KRS ONE, "Apostrophe"+ "Overnite Sensation" double CD by Frank Zappa, or "Evil Empire" by Rage Against the Machine.Favourite bars/clubs/pubs to hang out in? Triselies in Katoomba (RIP). This little place in Coolum Beach, maybe First floor in Melbourne but i can't remember that night that well. What advice would you give to someone looking at getting involved in the music industry? Write easy listening style pop music, and if you are even slightly good, you could make a lot of money as a cover band of some type....word .. Take us through a typical "day in the life of MC Immune". Love, coffee, read, smoke, music, food, smoke, music, love, sleep..MC Immune's debut album 'The Future Kill' is out now.
