MONOPOLY
GOES 3D PRESENTING NEW CHALLENGES TO PROPERTY
DEVELOPERS & REAL ESTATE
TYCOONS!
After more than 70 years as the world's most
popular board game, Monopoly enthusiasts all around the world will now have to
rethink their game plans and strategies to master a brand new, first ever 3D version
of the game, Monopoly City. The game which presents a host of new challenges and
the opportunity not only to build and develop your own property portfolio, but
also to sabotage others, will no doubt have both aspiring and real life property
developers and real estate moguls sitting down to a game to sharpen their skills.
Proving
that Monopoly has stood the test of time, this highly inventive new version Monopoly
City, won Australian Toy Associations coveted, Toy of the Year award this year,
ahead of hundreds of other toys, proving that a great toy is about more than state
of the art technology. Monopoly City is the first 3D version of the game giving
players the chance to utilise the centre of the board to develop stunning residential
and industrial developments or to devalue other player's cities by erecting hazardous
power plants, prisons and even unleashing natural disasters!
Monopoly
City sees players acquire permits for districts on the board and build their own
3D City in the middle of the board. In place of houses and hotels, players can
build their own city sky line choosing from over 80 different 3D structures including
residential estates, soaring skyscrapers, stadiums, school and parks as well as
industrial buildings. The more you build, the greater the value of your district
and the more rent returned. However, just like the modern city a host of potential
problems and natural disasters threaten your city. The game allows players to
devalue their opponents' cities by erecting rubbish dumps, power stations, sewage
works and prisons in their districts - build these hazards and watch the rent
value plummet!
In other changes to the traditional game, players
do not have to wait to acquire all properties of the one colour group before they
can begin building, in Monopoly City each square on the board is a different district
that can be bought and developed individually. Players can capitalise even further
in their cities by building the ultimate Monopoly Tower - which automatically
doubles the rent value of each district owned. In keeping with today's busy lifestyles,
timing is also a factor. The length of game play can be adjusted, while auctioning
is set to become a high pressured affair with only a timed 50 seconds allowed
to secure a deal.
True to modern times, property prices and
rents have rocketed sky high with rents running as high as $20 million for landing
on the premium site once it has been fully developed. Although the game still
utilises Monopoly money, new monetary denominations have been re-thought to cope
with rising costs, starting at a generous $10K through to $5 million. The game
also uses an electronic devise to determine the economic conditions for game play.
While
Community Chance cards are no longer part of the game, Chance cards have been
updated and are now indicative of today's pitfalls, such as "GRAFFITI DISASTER
Pay $50K per district you own to have graffiti removed" or "CONGESTION
CHARGE Pay $500K". Positive Chance cards can also advance your progress in
the game, with rewards on offer including, "FREE BUILD. Build one residential
block on any of your districts" or "STATION Build a train station of
any district". An old favourite that remains however, is Free Parking which
now gives players a unique advantage, allowing them the one-of power to avoid
paying an opponent's rent when they land in their district.
Monopoly
City is available in stores now from leading toy retailers nationally for $59.95
RRP.
