Newcastle trio Solver will be the band to watch in 2007 after walking away with the Artist of the Year gong at the Musicoz Awards which were held at Sydney's Enmore Theatre on November 14th. Often dubbed the 'Unsigned ARIA's within the industry, the awards were a celebration of unsigned and independent artists. The winners Solver put in a blistering performance on the night and were excited about being presented with their award by Musicoz patron Richard Wilkins. Sydney's Anthony Snape also had a successful night winning the Best Pop Artist Award for his debut single 'Little Piece Of Love' as well as the Best Acoustic Award for 'Can't Stop The Rain'. Brisbane hip hop masters The Optimen also triumphed winning the Best Urban Artist Award as well as the Channel [V] Best Unsigned Video Clip for 'Give It Up'. Songwriter Matt Tonks won in the Best Alternative Artist Category for 'Monsters Sleep' while the prestigious APRA Songwriter's Award went to Northern Territory's Tashka Urban for 'Together In This Life'.
