In the
last few months, Favela's Nightclub, has established itself as Sydney's premier
intimate and stylish clubbing space.
The glamorous and intimate space has
already utilized and enjoyed by super brand Hed Kandi. Proving that it is not
a one dimensional club, the venue was brought to a whole new level when Bass Drop
Feat London Elekricity dropped in and almost took the roof off (a night that will
live in legend a long time). Let's not forget the 8,000 villainous golden disco
bulbs that have sparkled over rapturous crowds at nights such as Together and
Made In Brazil.
With the venue establishing itself more in the Sydney club
market with its different nights, it is now time for the flagship Saturday night
to roll out
..welcome to 'Musik Matters'.
'Musik Matters' is night
designed to perfectly compliment the Favela space and feel. Uniquely for the Sydney
Saturday night market, it will be bringing it back to basics with a focus on international
resident DJ Matt Cahill and a solid line-up of local DJs with the odd quality
international guest thrown in for good measure. Coming over from a successful
career in the UK, Matt Cahill was resident for some of the biggest clubbing brands,
playing out at epic events for Cream Classics, Hed Kandi, Ministry of Sound, Defected,
Housexy, Colours and Glam, he is very excited about this weekly residency in what
he see's as one of Sydney best clubbing spaces and with a group of keen, enthusiastic
and talented DJs joining him, it is definitely something we should also be excited
about.
Already on Saturday nights at Favela, there has been amazing performances
from international DJs such as Tiger Stripes, Chuck Love, DJ Gregory, Colette,
Stacey Pullen, Simon Dunmore to name but a few. Musik Matters will focus more
on a mature view of clubbing and concentrate on quality house music upstairs in
the club with a mix of Funk, Hip Hop, Funky breaks and Nu-Disco downstairs in
the bar. There will be no club hopping for the Musik Matters residents. The ethos
here is to bring the spirit of clubs back to the passionate era of house music,
with the DJ not just playing music but also being part of the fabric of the night
joining with the crowd and the vibe of the party. It will be like a house party
or warehouse party but in a licensed venue.
Promoter Paul Strange comments
that after doing a Drum & Bass event, it made him see again the right attitude
for all involved in running a party. The love of the party. So combining the party
atmosphere and quality music on offer, the ingredients are set for Musik Matters.
