GRAMMY TRIBUTE TO JACKSON
As
a part of the 52nd Grammy Awards on January 31 (in the US), the Recording Academy
and Grammy paid tribute to fallen pop star Michael Jackson. As part of the tribute
was a 3D presentation of "Earth Song" - a piece that was to be the centre
point of Jackson's London residency at the O2 Arena. Jackson was also awarded
the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony which was accepted by Jackson's
two eldest children, Prince Michael & Paris, on his behalf.
BOYLE'S
SUCCESS
Scottish songstress Susan Boyle may have finished
second in the English talent show "Britain's Got Talent", but Boyle
scored big by making history with the number one spot on both sides of the Atlantic
with her debut album "I Dreamed a Dream". In the United Kingdom, Boyle
sold 410,000 copies of the album in the first week of release. In the United States,
Boyle nearly doubled that amount with 701,000 copies of the album sold. In her
second week on the charts in the UK, Boyle again took the top spot with another
300,000 copies sold. The album "I Dreamed a Dream" reached double platinum
status in the UK after just two weeks and is still going strong weeks later.

EMERGENCE OF THE
PROSTIDUDE
What is sometimes referred to as the world's
oldest profession, prostitution, has traditionally been women's work. A Nevada
brothel has changed all that with the hiring of the first legal male prostitute
- Markus. The "prostidude", as he is being called, plies his trade in
a cottage on the premises away from where the "girls" are working in
the house.
