They
say that the best way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but 'Pants off
Salmon' author, Alec Bragg, has found that unless you're Brad Pitt, the quickest
way to a woman's...er, heart, is for a guy to demonstrate his prowess in the kitchen.
"A woman's attraction for a guy skyrockets when he does something that genuinely
impresses her," says Alec, a confirmed bachelor speaking from personal experience.
So
rather than beating his chest, Alec suggests eager singles should try beating
an egg and whipping up some Scrambo's or one of the other 20 easy recipes created
and tested by bachelors for bachelors in 'Pants off Salmon and other recipes for
Bachelors'. Does he guarantee success? "A real man doesn't cook and tell
but let's just say my mates and I have often been rewarded for our efforts,"
said the author with a knowing smile. "You might not be successful 100% of
the time but you'll definitely improve your odds," he qualified.
In
addition to the sure-fire recipes, the book briefly discusses the need for etiquette
to avoid common mistakes and helps with the important aspect of choosing an appropriate
wine. Alec warns that any growing attraction may quickly dissipate if the bachelor
cook dominates the conversation or goes a bit too hard on the wine. "To build
on your early achievements and bring the evening to a successful conclusion, make
her the centre of the dinner conversation and don't drink more than she does,"
Alec suggests.
While the book was written to help give single
blokes the edge, Alec has found that the approach works just as well for men in
a relationship. "An exhausted woman barefoot in the kitchen is not nearly
as exciting a proposition as having her relaxed and naked in your bed," he
said, adding, "Giving your girl the night off from the kitchen is a sure-fire
way to get her in the mood."
And of all the recipes in
the book which is the author's personal favourite? "The salmon, of course.
It's not called 'Pants off Salmon' for nothing!"
