Platform One Espresso, Kogarah
One of the best little cafe’s we’ve been to in recent times isn’t one you’ll find in a beachside suburb or overlooking the harbour. Platform One Espresso is a hidden gem located just footsteps away from Kogarah Station right in the heart of Dragons territory.
This latest foodie destination has some exceptional coffee and food dishes to satisfy all cravings. All it took was just one sip of their unique house blend coffee to have us converted. All milk-based coffees are crafted in-house with the help of Complete Coffee Roasters while Single O is their choice of brew if you prefer your coffee black. We recommend trying out the Mocha for a rich and indulgent chocolate experience.
Being right next to the station is highly convenient for residents looking to grab a quick coffee on the go. For those looking for a sit-down experience, you’re in luck as there’s some real quality food available on the menu. From Buttermilk Pancakes & Spicy Corn Fritters to the Salmon Breakfast, there’s plenty to enjoy for breakfast or lunch.
On our visit, we enjoyed the Avo Eggs with smashed avocado, poached eggs, crumbled feta, house-made dukkah, and apple balsamic on sourdough. We were absolutely blown away by the explosion of flavours in this dish. We love our smashed avocado but we are yet to taste one as flavourful as this one. The house-made dukkah adds a unique crunch to it and really gives it that extra oomph. The mix is just perfect and we can see ourselves coming back to experience this one again and again.
Another healthy breakfast option we’d recommend trying is the Veg Bowl. With chilli kale, organic quinoa, spiced sweet potato, kraut, avocado, charred corn and haloumi, this one wins the most visually appealing award. We found this highly colourful dish to be both delicious and nutritious and you just can’t go wrong with that combination.
For something meatier, you can try devouring the Wagyu Beef Burger or Grilled Chicken Burger or have a salad or one of the delicious smoothies to keep the kilojoules down. Starting as a simple boutique coffee shop to now being a full-blown cafe with specials and a seasonally changing menu, there’s plenty on offer here.
With its amazing coffee and high-quality food offering, we found Platform One Espresso to be a breath of fresh air for the Kogarah community.
