Butterball has just beaten up his best friend.
Branded a bully
by his classmates, his mother and his teachers, he has no choice but to go speak
to Liz, a counsellor, twice a week, which he sees as a complete waste of time.
Life
has not been easy for Butterball recently: a New York city boy, he was forced
to move to the suburb of Garden City when his parents split up two years ago.
Bored and lonely, Butterball lives for the weekends he spends with his father.
He teaches Butterball that violence and theft are all part of showing the world
that you're a man.
But this philosophy proves difficult to
live by, especially when you're overweight and lacking any real friends. As the
weeks go by, Butterball soon finds himself beginning to rely more and more on
his sessions with Liz - her office is a sanctuary from the rest of the world.
But he can't hide forever, and when things come to a head at a party, Butterball
is forced to face up to the truths that have made him the bully he has become...
A
funny and moving story about the confusion and the challenges of growing-up.
