Australian APRA winning dance sensations The Potbelleez (DJ-producers
Dave Goode and Jonny Sonic, singer Blue MC and vocalist Ilan Kidron) are back
ripping dance floors apart, having emerged from their Bondi Beach 'Wonderland'
studio where have been writing and recording their second album 'Destination Now'.
The album is co- produced by Australian dance legend and multiple ARIA Award
winner Paul Mac (Itchee & Scratchee, The Dissociatives) and Shave (4x UK Top10
and US Top5 productions).
'The new album is a real progression, Destination
Now is the product of the growth and the experiences we've all had working with
each other' says Blue MC. 'We had an opportunity to really take our time and write
songs we felt really defined us all as a group,' adds Ilan.
The motley
foursome delivers a vast array of influences to Destination Now. Ilan is classically
trained, Dave and Jonny hail from the club zone and Blue MC brings her hip-hop/rap
to the mix
'Each of us has our own individual strengths, which makes us
strong as a foursome. You can't take away one of the pieces. Ilan's got his signature
voice, which is so big and strong; Blue is fantastic in the live sense, such a
weapon on-stage, says Dave. 'Dave is like the doctor, his strength is doctoring
sounds and our personalities' adds Ilan, 'he makes sure we all stay in good shape
and healthy mentally. He is also the one who administers the "party"
factor. Together, Jonny is serious about his beats and has a great ear for sound.
He knows how to make things sound as strong as possible.'
The Potbelleez
much anticipated return is rocking fans across the country as their fresh, energetic
sounds make a splash across radio and television alike. 'Hello' was the first
smash single from the sophomore album Destination Now; it was the number #1 Most
Added track to Australian radio in July 2010, shooting up the ARIA Top 40 Singles
chart and snatching ARIA Gold certification. The follow-up single 'Shake It' grabbed
the baton and made an equally impressive sprint to the top of radio playlists,
boasting Most Added Australian track across the board to radio shortly after.
'From the Music', the third single flew out of the gates claiming the #1 Most
Added Track to Australian radio the week it was serviced.
The Potbelleez
scored the biggest local coup for early 2011, picking up the Australian support
role for Usher's sold-out 15-date 'OMG' tour nationally, playing to packed stadiums
ahead of their album tour in June & July through Frontier Touring. 'The album
is really made for the dance floor - we love playing clubs festivals and stadiums
and this is an album that works in the small clubs, but also rocks a big stage,'
says Dave.
The Potbelleez legendary live show has hit every major festival
in the country including Future MUsic, Good Vibrations MTV Snowjam, Groovin the
Moo, We Love Sounds, Homebake and the MTV Awards.
'We've been really
lucky, The Potbelleez was sort of like a shotgun wedding, we came together really
quickly. Now we have the opportunity to create something really special. We want
to keep bringing pleasure to the people the way we do, rocking the world, one
song at a time,' says Ilan with a smile.
DESTINATION NOW is out now.
