SCORCHED
After
captivating Australian television audiences in August, Australia's first 'what-if'
disaster movie 'Scorched' is now finally available on DVD through Sony Pictures
Home Entertainment.
Set in 2012, during a time when there's
been no rainfall for over 200 days, 'Scorched' foresees a Sydney that has run
out of water and is forced to rely on its desalination plant. Plagued by a severe
heatwave, the city is ringed by bushfires which simultaneously break their containment
lines leaving Sydney under siege and without sufficient water to defend itself.
With an all-star Australian cast including Vince Colosimo,
Rachel Carpani, and Les Hill, and stand out performances from Georgie Parker as
the NSW Premier and Cameron Daddo as the State Operations Commander for the National
Fire Service, 'Scorched' provides a human face to the realities of a local disaster,
as nature and man-made carelessness and corruption come together to create a situation
that tests everyone.
When 'Scorched' was broadcast on television
this year, it was complemented by the most sophisticatedand ground-breaking online
drama experience ever devised for an Australian drama. www.scorched.tv invited
audiences to engage with innovative news bulletins from the futuristic news station
CPN News and the video diaries of Cassie Hoffman, an 18-year-old girl living in
drought-stricken Bourke, played by the up-and-coming actress Kate Bell.
The
'Scorched' DVD integrates this content with the full length film, new unseen footage
and exclusive in depth interviews with the cast into one monstrous disc with over
3 hours of enthralling material.
Paving the way for Australian
home entertainment, 'Scorched' also allows users to choose their own viewing sequences,
offering an active and comprehensive viewing experience. 'Scorched' director Tony
Tilse said "'Scorched' is a film about the potentially disastrous consequences
of climate change in Australia. The DVD allows the audience to completely immerse
themselves in the 'Scorched' experience, to consider the decisions we have made
and are marking now and to appreciate how this remarkable story could one day
soon become a reality".
In a country plagued by bushfires
each and every summer, 'Scorched' is an astounding dramatic prediction of a frighteningly
conceivable future. A must-have DVD for the Summer Season.
'Scorched'
is available now at JB Hi Fi, Sanity, Big W, Kmart, Target, Ezy DVD and to rent
