Goodwill
by name, goodwill by nature. The first disc is a light, pop powered collection
of club hits and remixes of some biggest hits in the pop and rock scenes. That's
right, pop and rock
pop and rock. This lively collection features remixes
of 'Jai Ho' by the Slumdogz, 'We Are The People' by Empire of the Sun, 'Bounce'
by MSTRKRFT and 'The Fear' by Lily Allen. Disc One has taken a big leap towards
a more commercial courtship but even sceptics like myself still managed to get
pop-rock-eriffic to it, with pepperings of some house classics like 'Day and Night'
by the Crookers, 'I'm Not Alone' by Calvin Harris, 'Everybody' by Rudenko and
the incredibly overplayed 'Show Me Love' in the mix, it definitely makes the cut.
Goodwill did an amazing job of pulling this one off. If someone less skilled tried
to do it, quite frankly, I think it would have bop-flopped.
Trash by name,
Trash by Nature. The second disc is the cutting edge of Australian dance music,
and what better way to start the disc than with a track by the man himself Tommy
Trash, with his new single 'Need Me To Stay'. This one I'm elevating to anthem
status. Fairly needless to say, I'm the latest victim of Trash-fever. Yep, I got
that trash-rash. I was going to ask Tommy what he thought of the disc but then
I thought better of it. I already know - it's Trash-tastic. Tom Middleton's remix
of the Presets 'If I Know You' is a great take - simple but effective. Tommy's
remix of Tekitek and Orgasmic's 'The Six Pack Anthem' is a bouncing, big room
epic. There is so much energy packed into this one. Hectic bro. There are also
remixes of tracks by N.A.S.A, Tiga, Bloc Party and the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. Disc
Two comes to a close with the Bloody Beetroots track 'Cornelius' a perfect rack
for 4.38am when you're looser than loose and pulling some amazing moves on the
dance floor. You know who you are
Yes
You.
Dirty by name, Dirty
by nature. The third and final disc is mixed by our home grown dance superstar
Dirty South and leaves all questions answered when it comes to just what's going
on at the forefront of dance music beyond our shores. This disc minimizes the
vocals and maximises the bass lines - yeah, it gets down
and dirty. This
is the disc bound to keep you going to the golden 6am mark
My advice, as
always, is to fight the light
it's the only way to survive. This disc features
some electro masterpieces - with tracks like 'Jule' by Solee, 'Cyan' by Arno Cost
and 'Reeperbahn' by Pryda one could be forgiven for thinking someone had given
Mozart a synthesizer. Dirty South's singles 'Alamo' and 'We Are' feature on this
disc and are dirtier than dirty - in a good way of course. Love it. His remix
of 'Leave the World Behind' by Axwell, Ingrosso, Angello and Laidback Luke is
right on the mark. This disc is super-studded yet seamlessly mixed. My only complaint
is the inclusion of yet another version of the 'Rockerfeller Skank' by Fatboy
Slim. Over it - fuck off fatboy. Otherwise, A+ for Dirty South and E+ for all
you clubbers.
