Sheraton on the Park, Sydney’s luxurious five star hotel overlooking Hyde Park, has revitalised its Conservatory Bar dining experience with the introduction of Paired, the new Sheraton food and beverage programme. Guests can now enjoy a mix of artisanal small plates and eclectic bar snacks, served alongside suggested premium wines and selected craft beers.

We recently sampled some of the menu items offered at Sheraton on the Park and it certainly didn’t fail to impress. From Mussel Pot paired with James Squire Amber Ale to Crab Roll paired with Dirty Granny Apple Cider, Paired stretches the boundaries of traditional pairing principles by blending ingredients together in new and unexpected ways.

The new menu uniquely pairs small plates and bar snacks with a recommendation from Sheraton Selects – a menu of premium wines rated 85 points or higher by Wine Spectator – and a craft beer, sourced specifically from choice brewers.

Our experience kicked off with the Mussel Pot. It comprised of black mussels, chorizo, tomato and smoked chilli sauce, paired with James Squire Amber Ale. A tasty starter which only had us craving for more. The Garlic Shrimp (shrimps sautéed in olive oil and garlic) and Scallop Fritters (crispy deep fried battered scallops with tamarina chilli sauce) followed and really hit the spot in our mouths and bellies.

But it was the Crab Roll that we found most filling so it was appropriate that we left this one until the end. The meal comprised of fresh crab, cucumber baby bahn mi, paired with Dirty Granny Apple Cider from Matilda Bay. Absolutely delicious.

Also on the Paired menu is the Lamb Rissole (moroccan lamb meat balls, spiced tomato and yogurt, paired with Last Horizon, Pinot Noir, Tamar Valley), Gyoza (steamed Japanese dumplings in spicy soy, pork or vegetable, paired with Woodstock Moscato, “Little Miss Collette”) and Ribs (spicy pork ribs and asian slaw, paired with James Squire Pilsner, Newcastle).
