Spit Syndicate Tour

Spit Syndicate Tour

Sydney hip hop duo Spit Syndicate continue to rack up the numbers, this time it’s in threes. Following an absolutely huge year post the release of their third LP Sunday Gentlemen, the band have just announced the release of ‘Amazing’, the third single to be lifted from said album.

Fresh from gracing the airwaves of triple j just last week with their cover of Disclosure’s ‘Latch’ for Like A Version (as well as a live version of ‘Amazing’), they have also just announced that to celebrate the release of ‘Amazing’ they will be embarking upon their third national tour off the back of Sunday Gentlemen, their biggest to date, the aptly titled ‘Money Over Bullshit’ tour.

As with the first two singles from Sunday Gentlemen, ‘Amazing’ was added straight to full rotation at triple j. Whilst Sunday Gentlemen spoke to the hard yards, ‘Amazing’ – which lends the lyric ‘money over bullshit, crew on top of anything’ to the upcoming tour’s name – is the postcard from the tour; to the supporters along the way, the random adventures and delirium of screaming crowds, the intense, sometimes surreal connection that takes place between crowd and performer. Beginning at Australia’s preeminent music conference Big Sound, this massive run of shows will see them criss-cross the country, including several regional and all-ages dates.

Sunday Gentlemen had already delivered two singles into triple j rotation before debuting at #15 on the ARIA charts in its week of release. First single ‘Beauty In The Bricks’ spawned a sold out national tour of the same name, before second single release ‘Folly’ heralded the arrival of Sunday Gentlemen proper. An album tour unlike any they’d staged before the ‘Sunday Gentlemen Tour’ saw the guys [and crucial collaborator DJ Joyride] roll out a second, even bigger, national tour – and again, selling out impressive venues in major cities Australia wide.

‘Amazing’ recognises the payoff from all the hard work and sacrifice that Spit Syndicate experience in making their music. It’s the flipside, the gratitude; the mirror an artist holds up to their supporters and collaborators as an exercise in humility.

And so was sown the seed for the ‘Amazing’ film clip. Getting up to loose shenanigans with good buddies and tour mates Joyride and Jackie Onassis, pulling the tour van up at a coastal forest in Western Australia to spit raps under the eucalypt canopies, and having a generous fan arrange a lavish yacht trip for the boys to use on their downtime: was all filmed during their most recent tour for the brand new ‘Amazing’ film clip. It was, as it should be, epic; and a shitload of fun.

Supporting on ‘Money over Bullshit’ tour will be Spit Syndicate’s DJ/life coach, Joyride. DJing for Spit Syndicate is but one feather in Joyride’s illustrious (and very big) cap. An immensely talented singer, songwriter and producer, who has been working on his own solo material in between his show-stealing guest appearances and Twitter obsession, Joyride has recently released a free EP called Chivalrous. Weaving its way through gut-wrenching heartbreak to drug-fuelled lust, Chivalrous is a unique combination of r’n’b, synth pop and soul and includes lead single ‘Removalist’, featuring regular collaborator Drapht, which is currently enjoying airplay on triple j.
