With
great shock and sadness, the world has heard that show business great Ted E Bare,
is planning to retire. As the undisputed star of David Strassman's last tour,
the "Get Chucked Tour", and a host of earlier smash hits, Ted E Bare's
decision to quit is a shock to the international showbiz world, and to his legion
of adoring fans.
"Ted E's Farewell Tour", begins
in Australia in 2008 with performances throughout Sydney from 10 October. It's
a final chance for fans to pay tribute to Ted E Bare, witnessing his swan song
performance. It will also provide an opportunity for auditions to take place to
find a replacement character.
"Too much stress,"
said Ted E Bare in an interview earlier that he can't take the stress of showbiz.
He has agreed to appear in one more show. As Strassman remarked, it gives fans
an opportunity to honour Ted E Bare's remarkable career. Ted E Bare has struggled
daily with the obligations of fame, and wishes to ease some personal pressure
by spending quality time at home with his family. Ted E Bare says this is a journey
he must take alone. He shrouds further details in mystery. More details though,
are expected to come to light from close associates including David Strassman,
Chuck Wood and Kevin the Alien. Speculation is already circulating about his allusive
family. Who are they? And does he actually have one?
Ted
E Bare says he'll miss the show
Ted E Bare has, admitted
that he will miss the show immeasurably. In this exclusive interview, he describes
the high and low points of his illustrious career.
"There
have been some wonderful times, and some terrible times," Ted E Bare explained,
with the clarity and conviction of someone taking a new direction in life.
Ted
E Bare's amazing career
Ted E Bare recognises the blessings
he received performing with Strassman, and his gang of unforgettable characters.
He described the highlights: meeting Prince Charles at the Royal Variety Show
in the UK in 1996; and starring on Strassman's chat show, which aired on Australian,
New Zealand and UK television. Ted E Bare's successes on the small screen didn't
stop there, with Ted E Bare appearing in the "STRASSMAN LIVE" DVD, which
sold triple platinum, and "The Chuck You Tour" DVD which debuted at
No. 1 in June 2006 on the DVD charts, and remained in the top 10 for the first
three months of release.
Ted E. Bare also mentions travel as
a high point of his career. The show took him to parts of the world most people
only dream of, touring in the United Kingdom, the United States, Denmark, South
Africa, New Zealand and, of course, Australia. His travel also given him the opportunity
to personally contribute to and make a difference in local communities where he
and David Strassman have visited and entertained children in Hospitals around
the world since 1980.
But Ted E Bare paid a heavy toll for
the glamorous lifestyle - a loss of privacy, constant struggles with the paparazzi,
an intensive publicity and interview schedule, and possibly the most detrimental
of all, a continually discordant relationship with one of the show's co-stars,
Chuck Wood.
