POWDERFINGER
ROCKING IT FOR 'TAKE 40 LIVE', SUNDAY 6TH DECEMBER AT 5PM AT A SPECIAL FREE LIVE
PERFORMANCE IN SYDNEY SUPPORTING THE AUSTRALIAN SKIN CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Take
40 Live returns with Australia's hottest live band Powderfinger performing a free
all-ages gig on Sunday 6th December at the Entertainment Quarter Moore Park, as
part of the Australian Government's Skin Cancer Awareness campaign.
The
crowd will be blown away with a free live performance as Powderfinger play tracks
from their brand new album GOLDEN RULE. Powderfinger commenced writing in January
2009 and decided to make their next album in their beloved home country. The band
turned to their friend and producer extraordinaire Nick DiDia, whom they have
worked with on many of their previous albums, and the result is the re-energised
and phenomenal album GOLDEN RULE.
The first single, 'All Of The Dreamers',
is amongst the most played songs in the country with second single "Burn
Your Name" expected soon. To be part of this unique event, which will be
filmed live for television, head to the Entertainment Quarter for the 5pm performance
on Sunday 6th December.
Powderfinger's extensive career spans nearly two
decades - they have sold in excess of 2 million albums in Australia, won sixteen
ARIA Awards and headlined a number of music festivals. Take 40 Live and Powderfinger
are launching another long summer of outdoor festivals with the golden rule for
all Australian's to 'Protect Yourself In 5 Ways from Skin Cancer'. Skin cancer
is the most common cancer in Australia with almost 400,000 skin cancers diagnosed
in Australia each year, and over 1,600 related deaths occurring. The Australian
Government's skin cancer awareness campaign, which launched yesterday, is particularly
close to the band's heart, and a free live outdoor performance is a great way
to bring awareness to the campaign.
"Skin Cancer can take lives
as I know first hand from the loss of my brother some years back. Our country
is blessed with amazing amounts of sunshine but don't let it get the better of
you, please take care and protect yourself and your families over summer."
Bernard Fanning, Powderfinger
