As The Cat Empire prepare to set a new venue record at Sydney's Metro
from October 14, you could be mistaken for thinking it's all they're
focusing on. But ahead of the record attempt is the September 22 release
of their third album, aptly titled 'So Many Nights'.
'So Many Nights' was produced by John Porter - whose credits include
Bryan Ferry, Los Lonely Boys, The Smiths, Ryan Adams, Elvis Costello,
B.B.King and The Pretenders. He was also the guitarist for Roxy Music,
and played in Eric Clapton's band. The Cat Empire's new album was
recorded in the band's hometown of Melbourne and in a house overlooking
the ocean in John's hometown of Malibu.
The Cat Empire boast multi-platinum album sales, a previous #1 album,
international acclaim, multiple ARIA nominations and Award, and a
phenomenal live presence. Renowned for their infectious live shows,
and favourites with USA's Letterman and Leno, they recently played
Summer Stage in Central Park New York, attracting the record crowd
for this summer of 5000 with an estimated 3000 people turned away.
Those who didn't get in, danced outside the fences for the whole show.
Bringing the live show home, The Cat Empire have announced three
sold out shows at the Sydney Metro, with a fourth now on sale, as
they attempt to beat the current venue record of seven gigs over 8
days. Dates are as follows:
October
Sun 14th The Metro - SOLD OUT
Mon 15th The Metro - SOLD OUT
Tues 16th The Metro
Sat 20th The Metro (All Ages) - SOLD OUT
More to be announced as they aim for 8 shows over 7 days!
'So Many Nights' is out now.
