How
did you get your start in the music industry?
I started
doing talent quests at the age of 10 and attended our first Tamworth Festival
in 2005, returning each year and attending the festival talent quests taking out
my first major achievement in 2008 when I won Best New Talent at the CCMA quest.
Best
part of the job?
The enjoyment I get by seeing other people
happy and enjoying my music.
Worst part of the job?
I
love everything that I do, I don't think there is a worst part of loving what
I live for which is my music, but if I had to pick anything, I would have to say
the many hours travelling to some gigs.
Any interesting
experiences you can share?
Having travelled throughout
both the East Coast of Australia, Canada & Nashville, sharing several different
experiences and meeting amazing people along the way.
Favourite
album of all time and why?
Rascal Flatts - They are amazing
artists, their music is relatable to every age and they are simply awesome.
Tell
us about the best live show that you ever saw?
Keith Urban
at Acer Arena (2009). He was just amazing and the entire audience were dancing
in their seats.
Take us through a typical "day in the life of
Tori Darke"
There is always something to do with my music: guitar
practice, writing, staying in contact with my fan base, preparation for my gigs.
I teach two days a week: singing and guitar, touring. So pretty full on.
What
advice would you give to someone looking at getting involved in the music industry?
The
3 'P's: Practice, Perseverance and Persistence. Never give up and believe in yourself
and stay positive.
Any news or final comments?
I have just
been nominated for the 2010 Golden Saddles Awards. My current single 'Not My Time
To Fly' is soaring up the charts and currently charting in the # 6 position. 'Not
My Time To Fly' has also been chosen as the Theme Song for the Ronald McDonald
House Charity Testimonial DVD.
