CELEBRATING 25 YEARS, MORE THAN A TRIVIAL MILESTONE!

Trivial Pursuit's brand new 25th Anniversary edition is no trivial milestone when you consider its humble beginnings and huge success.

More than 25 years ago, two friends living in Montreal created the essence of the board game, Trivial Pursuit - the pieces of pie, six basic categories and a board which resembles a wheel with six spokes and sketched it out on the back of a beer carton. It sold a record 20 million games in the USA in its first year of sale and changed the way we viewed board games - As the first board game where progress was determined by a player's ability to answer general knowledge or popular culture questions, it became an instant hit and even heralded the start of dinner party games. Since then, the game has evolved into one of the world's leading adult board games, being inducted into the Games Hall of Fame in 1993 and by its 20th anniversary had sold over 88 million copies worldwide in more than 17 different languages

This year the game celebrates its biggest milestone yet - 25 years of bringing the world's most weirdest and wonderful events into the homes of trivia buffs everywhere. And some of our best known Australians, ranging from Kevin Rudd, Gemma Ward and Stephanie Rice to Casey Stoner, Chas Licciardello, Hamish & Andy and even Sunday Rose will have special cause to celebrate having been trivially immortalised for the first time in Australia's very own 25thAnniverary edition!

'Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary Edition' immortalises the events and moments that have defined Australia and the world, from the entertaining and quirky, to the serious and tragic and even outright trivial. It features more than 500 questions including a host of uniquely Australian questions that reflect the very latest in Australian culture and news, sport and entertainment. With almost no topic left unexplored in six classic categories - Geography, Entertainment, History, Arts & Literature, Science & Nature and Sports & Leisure, it's the game with questions for everyone, than anyone can win!

There are also some interesting changes to the 25th Anniversary Game that are set to surprise and challenge players. While the basic game play remains the same as the traditional version, (with players or teams vying to collect all six scoring wedges across the six core categories), for the first time ever each category question card covers one particular topic with three question levels - easy, medium and hard. Each card consists of six questions all based around the same topic, questions 1 and 2 are easy, questions 3 and 4 are medium and 5 and 6 are hard. When players draw a card, the roll of the dice determines the difficulty level of the particular question.

Another unique twist in the new game includes allowing players to steal their opponents wedge and even slow opponents' progress by moving their game piece to other spaces on the board. While, the all new freebie zone allows players to take a wedge of their choice completely for free - no need to worry about those problem question categories! Indicative of the diverse and often quirky questions written especially for the Australian 25th Anniversary edition of Trivial Pursuit that will test trivia buffs' knowledge of recent events and people currently in the news include:

Which former soap star played Judi Kane in the second series of Underbelly?
What kitchen gadget electrocuted Rachel Kinski on an episode on Neighbours?
Which politician was dux of Nambour State High School in 1974?
Which city did models Megan Gale and Gemma Ward grow up in?
Who played Osama Bin Laden in The Chaser's APEC prank?

Which nation's soccer team was ranked 28 at the end of 2008?
Which Australian batsman, by the end of 2008, had the record for the most test centuries scored?
(Answers at bottom of page)

Whether you are the well-loved all rounder or the annoying know it all, 'Trivial Pursuit 25th Anniversary Edition' will have you reminiscing, competing, scratching your head or just having a laugh for hours.
