Mum, if your kid's not in this book, then you're doing alright! Like all good
ideas, this project was conceived in the pub. Having recently met, your editors
were racing through past indiscretions over (regrettably) non tax-deductible chilli
vodkas. In between recountings of public nudity, public idiocy and mother-bothering
woefulness there was a moment of clarity: if a couple of relatively normalish
people had plenty of salacious tales, imagine what they could dredge up from the
freakishly talented and rightfully famous…

(including your dad); playing eleven-minute soft rock tracks on night-shift radio
as cover for some self-love; getting your appendix removed to avoid an English

spoken of again.

TAMARA SHEWARD is the author of travel
books, including Bad Karma: confessions of a reckless traveller in South-East
Asia and has written and illustrated six children's books. She is a journalist
and subeditor at Triple J' s magazine, Jmag, and features in an upcoming Lonely
Planet National Geographic TV program.
