Sydney chidlers and their giants will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Disney’s The BFG in the form of pop-up eatery; Rotsome.
The restaurant will be Australia’s first to be inspired by three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – who have finally united to bring Dahl’s beloved classic The BFG to life, releasing in cinemas across Australia from June 30.
For one day only Masterchef 2015 favourite, Reynold Poernomo, will transform his KOI Dessert Bar and menu into an immersive BFG experience that promises to stimulate the senses.
Taking styling cues from Giant Country landscape, Rotsome will delight diners with a Gobblefunk menu so deliciously disgusting you’d have to dream it to believe it.
All giants must be accompanied by a guest of honour, a small human over six years of age, to be eligible to be served a frothbuggling and filthsome three-course meal of unexpected BFG recipes and flavours.
Chidlers and their giants will be seated on a first-come first-served basis from 1:00pm to 6:00pm on Monday 4 July.
ABOUT THE MOVIE: The BFG is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler and Fleshlumpeater on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the BFG, but soon comes to realize that he is actually quite gentle and charming. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams.
Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen and warn her of the precarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.WHAT: BFG inspired pop up restaurant
