Craft beer/cider drinkers and gourmet food lovers can expect the gift of the GABS to keep them frothing again this year, with a spec’tap’ular showcase of the best artisan breweries from around the world returning for 2016.
The annual GABS Beer, Cider & Food Festival brings even more unique craft beers, gourmet beer-battered delicacies and refreshing ciders to satisfy every connoisseur’s palette.
Established in 2011 after a drink between friends and co-founders, Guy Greenstone and Steve Jeffares, GABS celebrates its fifth frothing year, ranking as one of the top twenty beer festivals in the world, according to the prestigious American magazine, Beer Connoisseur.
Promising to be bigger and better than last year, GABS stands out from other food and drink festivals, with 120 of the best Australian and NZ breweries brewing new ‘Festival Beers’ specifically for the event. With past exotic flavors as truffles, vodka, coconut and banoffee pie, GABS encourages participating breweries to submit one of a kind flavors, celebrating their uniqueness and the diversity of beer and cider brewing.
This year’s festival attendees can expect to see such unique ‘Festival Beers’ as the “Jam Donut” and the “Mexican Chocolate Stout”, with ingredients including cinnamon, jam, cocoa nibs and chipotle spices used to create incredible, one-off craft beers.
In total, GABS 2016 will feature around 400 beers from 150 breweries from across the globe filling out a giant beer hall, in which participants can sample a selection of beers and ciders from a wooden paddle and interact with passionate, knowledgeable brewers.
As well as a gourmet food and boutique beer and cider sampling, GABS offers educational seminars, fun activities, great musical and circus performers and a giant Ferris wheel this year in Melbourne, for a diverse, thrilling experience.
Held in Sydney, Melbourne and for the first time ever in New Zealand, GABS 2016 will run from May 20 – 22 in the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne, May 27 – 28 at Australian Technology Park, Sydney and June 18 at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland, with more than 30 000 people expected to pass by for a pint.
Early bird tickets go on sale to subscribers to the GABS website from March 14th, and to the general public on March 18th. Single session tickets are $36 but groups of more than five people get up to 15% off the regular price with the popular ‘Beer Buddies’ tickets.
Presale ticket prices online are cheaper than at the door so hurry now to get your tickets to Australia and New Zealand’s greatest beer, cider and food festival this May/June and see why it has been judged one of the best in the world.
