The gloves will come off at this year’s Glenfiddich Culinary Challenge on Monday 14th of March at Centennial Parklands. The unmatched dining event will see some of Australia’s celebrated chefs turn up the heat in the kitchen as they go head-to-head to create the ultimate ‘family-inspired’ degustation dish incorporating Glenfiddich whisky.
In honour of Glenfiddich’s visionary founder and the fact that after over 125 years the company is still family owned and run, each Chef will present a recipe inspired by the creators’ own pioneering family members.
One hundred guests will be treated to a five-course degustation of the dishes, each matched to Glenfiddich whiskies, before voting for their family-favourite. The creator of the winning dish will receive an all expenses paid trip to Scotland, where they will experience a private tour and tasting in the Glenfiddich distillery.
Five finalists from over twenty venues have been handpicked by Glenfiddich to take part in the challenge, including:
• Duncan Welgemoed – Africola (SA)
• Matthew Ouwerkerk – Raven Eye (NSW)
• Leigh McDivitt – ONE6EIGHT (NSW)
• Charlotte Marshall – Centennial Parklands Dining (NSW)
• Kayle Burns – Lume (VIC)
The iconic whisky brand is one of the few single malt distilleries to remain entirely family-owned (5th generation) and is now the World’s Most Awarded Single Malt Scotch Whisky, a true reflection of the founder’s integrity and innovative spirit, passed down through the generations.
Glenfiddich Marketing Manager Mark Little says, “Since its creation, the family-run Glenfiddich distillery has become synonymous with pioneering spirit. William Grant even carefully selected each of his seven sons’ professions to ensure they mastered a specific skill to build the business into what it is today.”
“March 14 will see us celebrate the legacy of Glenfiddich and the vital role family has played in the company’s global success. The five finalists set to compete at the 2016 Culinary Challenge have captured this essence, and we can’t wait to see each Chef share their story.”
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Soldier On, a charity supporting Australia’s emotionally and physically wounded defence force personnel. The Culinary Challenge was first held in 2014, with the event raising $8,000 for Soldier On.
Tickets for the 2016 Glenfiddich Culinary Challenge cost $130 per person.
