In the lead up to the busiest shopping day of the year this December 6, Australians around the country are looking for easy ways to save money. Switching your traditional lightbulbs from incandescent or halogen to LED is one way to both cut costs and live a more sustainable lifestyle.
Despite 70 per cent of Aussies wanting to live a more sustainable life at home, almost half (48 per cent) are not sure where to start towards doing so¹. In response to these findings, IKEA has announced the launch of the LED Xmas Mistletoe – a first of its kind installation that aims to raise awareness of how switching to LED lightbulbs can help consumers live a more sustainable life at home and save money.
Powered by kinetic energy when movement is detected under the iconic Christmas plant (hugging, kissing and festive dancing optional!), the installation aims to educate consumers in a fun and shareable way, with participants able to send a sustainable Christmas card featuring a photo of them under the mistletoe to their friends via social media.
The first 100 consumers to visit the installation will also be invited to take part in IKEA’s LED amnesty, a one-stop-swap-shop that allows them to trade in their old incandescent, halogen or CLF bulbs for a money saving, sustainable LED equivalent, free of charge.WHAT: IKEA LED Christmas Mistletoe
