The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a way of providing individualised support for eligible people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers.
Recognising the new scheme has not been completely comprehended, Richmond Wellbeing (a non-for-profit organisation who has provided quality mental health services to the WA population for over 40 years) has committed to ‘translating’ NDIS terminology in a way that’s easy to understand and will educate families and providers across Australia on the changes to disability funding and how these changes will affect them. This means the affected community will now understand how they can best benefit from the new scheme.
Detailed information sessions are led by mental health peers, allowing for more personal connections with an individual who understands the new funding process, as well as the family circumstances therefore should be able to eliminate any confusion.
These sessions are suitable for individuals, families, community leaders and organisations to help with the skills and knowledge to share this message within their own community circles.
