On Saturday 16 April, Paddington’s White City Tennis Centre will be transformed into the ultimate social tennis event for Social Serve, a sporty new charity event bringing tennis backhands, beats and artisan eats together to help people with disabilities access sport.
It’s time to put that expensive weekend active wear to work for a social afternoon of mixed doubles, and a few cheeky drinks on the side line. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a racquet or if you’re already picking off the competition, all standards are welcome at Social Serve. Racquets will be available for sale or hire at the White Tennis Centre’s shop.
Those wanting to get an edge over the competition can brush up on their skills with a tennis lesson before the friendly social doubles matches kick off from 2pm. From 5pm, the tennis champions who have dominated the court will face off in the finals, with the winners crowned in a special presentation.
This is no standard tennis social – DJs will hit the decks early in the afternoon, there’ll be mouth-watering smoked beef brisket rolls and chilli lime salmon skewers from Fumo Meats and the bar will be in full swing serving up beers, wine and cocktails thanks to HMH Beverages.
All drink proceeds from the launch of Social Serve will be donated to Primary Club – an Australian charity dedicated to providing those with disabilities access to sport.
