Australian music legend, Steve Balbi, will release a re-worked version of his sensational and acclaimed debut solo album, BLACK RAINBOW, on May 13.
With his recent signing to powerhouse Australian Label Golden Robot Records, Balbi has completely reworked the 2012 eclectic album to deliver loyal fans a new surreal version.
Balbi has taken the songs from the original release and turned them on their head. To celebrate the release of RAINBOW BLACK [the surreal edition], the Sydney Opera House will host a very special night on May 13 where Balbi will showcase some of these tracks alongside others from his versatile catalogue.
Listen to a sneak peek from RAINBOW BLACK here.
Joining Balbi on stage for this intimate concert, that’s not to be missed, are some of the nation’s finest musicians including vocalist Amber Nichols as well as drumming prodigy Jagger from Moon for an encore performance.
Another very special element on the night is the appearance of respected artist Ronald James Neal, who will paint throughout the course of Balbi’s performance. Neal (who is also in the Golden Robot Records trio, The Plastic Fingers) will have an easel set up side of stage and will create unique artwork, interpreting Balbi’s music into a visual form, with the finished art to be revealed at the end of the concert. Lauded for his exceptional talent since his first solo exhibition in 2002, Neal’s exceptional artistry skills have seen him nominated for several awards and high profile exhibitions.
As an added bonus to this magical night, Golden Robot Records is excited to announce Nick Barker and Justin Garner (The Heartache State) will open proceedings as they showcase their rock n’ roll prowess.

A man deeply-respected in the Australian music scene for the legacy he has created, from bands such as The Electric Hippies, Noiseworks, Move Trees, Moon and more… but none more than his solo offerings and performances that have transcended and moved audiences new and old all around the world.
