Duan Noodle House Brings Authentic Hand-Stretched Noodles to Marrickville
Duan Noodle House – the latest venture from Chef Lucas Doan – has officially opened its doors in Marrickville.
After almost 20 years honing his culinary skills in Sydney’s most exclusive dining establishments, including roles at Mr Wong and Luna Lu before opening The D’s Bar & Dining in 2023, Doan has built a reputation for combining tradition with contemporary technique.
Drawing on years of experience in kitchens across Asia, Doan created Duan Noodle House to bring the authentic flavours and tradition of Chinese noodle making to locals, blending modern dining with warm Vietnamese hospitality. At Duan Noodle House, Chinese tradition meets modern dining, with a touch of Vietnamese warmth.
Bringing this inspiration to life, the intimate 35-seat Duan Noodle House draws on the bustling noodle houses of Soho, London, creating a fun, interactive dining experience centred around one of the world’s most beloved comfort foods.

The name “Duan” (段) reflects dedication to craft, respect for tradition, and the belief that something extraordinary can be created from simple ingredients. Noodles are crafted fresh each day with patience and precision, paired with carefully sourced ingredients, rich broths and bold regional flavours. Every bowl is handcrafted with care, balancing authentic techniques with a modern approach to hospitality.
The menu celebrates the rich heritage of hand-pulled noodles while embracing the fresh herbs, vibrant aromas and comforting flavours that have made Vietnamese cuisine beloved around the world. Menu highlights include the signature hand-pulled Oil Spill Biang Biang Noodles with braised beef rib, alongside comforting bowls of Northern-style Vietnamese Pho Ga and Pho Bo, showcasing rich broths and authentic flavours.
For seafood lovers, the Australian Rock Lobster is a top pick along with the Tai Fung Shelter Mud Crab or the Honey King Prawn, which we assure, will have you licking your fingers clean after devouring it. Also on the menu are some delectable Stir Fry Noodle options, Meat dishes (Chinese Roast Duck, Steamed Chicken, Angus Kampot Black Pepper Beef) and the crowd-pleasing Signature XO Egg Fried Rice which is so packed full of flavour, it just keeps you coming back for more!

Chef Khánh serves as the Head Chef of Duan Noodle House, working closely alongside Executive Chef and Founder Lucas Doan to bring the restaurant’s vision to life. Having worked together for several years, Khánh has become a trusted leader in the kitchen, known for his dedication, consistency, and passion for authentic Asian cuisine.
“After the incredible support we’ve received at The D’s, it felt like the right time to bring another concept to Marrickville. I’ve always been inspired by the craftsmanship of hand-pulled noodles, and I wanted to create a space where people can enjoy not only incredible food, but also the theatre and tradition behind it,” says Doan.
Foodie hotspot Marrickville has long been celebrated as one of Sydney’s most vibrant multicultural dining destinations, making it the natural home for Duan Noodle House. Building on the success of The D’s Bar & Dining, Doan hopes the new venue will add another layer to the suburb’s thriving food scene, bringing locals together over handcrafted noodles in a unique, interactive dining experience.
To celebrate the opening, Duan Noodle House will be giving away 100 complimentary noodle bowls across the grand opening weekend, with 50 bowls available from midday on Friday 10 July 2026, and a further 50 bowls available from midday on Saturday 11 July 2026, inviting locals to be among the first to experience the venue’s signature offering.

Duan Noodle House is an exciting addition to Marrickville’s vibrant culinary scene. With its thoughtful menu, polished execution and genuine hospitality, it’s a restaurant well worth exploring.
