Illuminated Dining Experience at Taronga Centre
Taronga Centre has created a truly unique dining experience at one of its most picturesque venues, The View Restaurant.
As part of Vivid Sydney, the general public will be able to book a ‘Vivid Dinner’ at The View as part of Taronga Zoo’s immersive light installation, “Lights for the Wild”.
With breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour and the city skyline, The View Restaurant will be open to the public for dinner Thursday to Sunday upon purchase of tickets to Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo’s magnificent trail of giant animal light sculptures.
We recently ventured to The View to dine under an exquisite projection of the underwater world. The evening was accompanied by soothing marine tunes, stunning aquatic-inspired lighting, and centerpieces which further enhanced the feeling of being under the sea. With front row seats to the Zoo’s largest new light installation, the Port Jackson shark, as well as the brand new floating stingray, this would make a worthy addition to your Vivid itinerary.
Food-wise, there is a special two-course menu on offer during Vivid which includes four mains: Roast Grass Fed Sirloin of Beef, Peri Peri Chicken, Quinoa Salad, and the Tempura Cod and Chips. We sampled the salad which comprised of charred broccolini, sweet potato & chia seeds, avocado, spring onion, spinach and mustard yoghurt dressing – simply delectable. We also got a taste of the cod (MSC certified) which came with chips, tartar sauce, and leaf salad – the cod was crispy, filling, and absolutely delicious.
For the second course, there are five desserts to choose from: Coconut & Lime Panna Cotta, Chocolate Brownie, Trio of Sorbet, Cheese Board, & Banana Split. We had the cheese board which comprised of Tarago River Blue, Warrnambool Mature Cheddar, Binnorie Brie, and some crisp breads and muscatels – the perfect accompaniment to the sights of Sydney. We also highly recommend trying the Coconut & Lime Panna Cotta which comes with Aged Rum, Pineapple Salsa, and Biscotti – it was just heavenly.
The Vivid Sydney Dinner Experience at Taronga Centre is available until Saturday 17th June. General public bookings are available Thursday to Sunday evenings with a set menu starting at $45 for adults and $15 for children. Must be booked as part of a Vivid Sydney at Taronga Zoo ticket. Corporate and private group bookings for up to 70 people are also available Monday to Wednesday evenings, with smaller group bookings available from Thursday to Friday.
