L’antica Pizzeria Da Michele Celebrates World Pizza Day By Giving Away 300 Free Pizzas
World Pizza Day, officially recognised in 1984, honours the journey of pizza from its humble beginnings in Naples to its place as one of the world’s most beloved dishes. In 2017, UNESCO formally recognised the art of Neapolitan pizza-making, ‘il Pizzaiuolo Napoletano’, as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, cementing its cultural and culinary significance.
This year, to celebrate World Pizza Day (17 January 2026) L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele – the original Naples pizzeria which recently opened its first Australian restaurant in Sydney – will be giving away 300 complimentary pizzas.
From Monday, January 12 until World Pizza Day (Saturday, January 17), the iconic Neapolitan institution will offer free takeaway pizzas to the first 50 guests in line each morning from 11:00am.
Guests will be able to choose between Da Michele’s two most legendary pizzas including the Margherita and the Marinara, dishes that have defined Neapolitan pizza since 1870.
Remaining faithful to its Italian roots, Da Michele has partnered with esteemed Italian brands to elevate the experience. San Pellegrino will provide complimentary refreshments for guests waiting in line, while Illy will offer Italian coffee cream throughout the activation.
In true celebratory spirit, one guest who receives a free pizza during the six-day activation will also win free pizza for the rest of 2026 at Da Michele Sydney.
Today, pizza is more than a dish; it is a universal language. While cultures around the world have embraced and reinterpreted it, Naples remains the soul of pizza. World Pizza Day is a tribute to that legacy, honouring tradition while celebrating the enduring global love for this Neapolitan masterpiece.
Founded in Naples in 1870, Da Michele has grown into a global brand while steadfastly preserving its original craft and heritage. With more than 80 locations worldwide, the Naples original remains the gold standard for Neapolitan pizza, celebrated for its purity, simplicity and excellence.
Da Michele Sydney brings the legendary Neapolitan pizza from Naples to the heart of Sydney, offering authentic recipes in a charming, inviting setting. Step in and experience a true taste of Italy in every slice.
L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele is located at 50 Pitt Street, Sydney, NSW, 2000 and is open 7 days a week. For more information about the venue, or to make a reservation, visit https://damichele.com.au/
