Following on from Justin Bieber’s erratic behavior story recently, the teen idol has hit the headlines again, but this time he has been the victim of a robbery. Bieber was performing at Johannesburg’s Soccer City stadium on May 12th when thieves reportedly stole over a million South African rand in takings from the concert. The gang, apparently armed with crowbars, hammers, ropes and chisels, broke into a room where the money was stored said local media.
A spokeswoman for the South African police, Katlego Mogale, said that “the suspect had gained entry through the roof. We don’t know how many people were involved as we are still gathering evidence.” It is believed the gang spent several days chiseling through the walls at the stadium before they lowered themselves into the venue with a rope. After the raid, the 94,000 capacity stadium was on lockdown as police, forensic experts and security officials searched for clues into the heist.
Police are reportedly following the thought that the heist was an inside job as the gang in question appeared to have detailed knowledge of the stadium’s security. The suspects also got away without being noticed. This was the second of Bieber’s two dates in South Africa as part of his ‘Believe’ world tour. The tour itself has attracted much attention from the star being attacked by a fan whilst onstage in Dubai. He also angered fans by arriving late to his London performance and he was forced to give up his pet monkey in Germany.
