Search For Comedy Stars Of The Future
1 Cover Travel Insurance proudly launches their second annual Comedy Competition, ‘The One Thing’. This year’s theme is “The one thing you regret about that holiday.”
Travel gives rise to funny, memorable stories, and with research showing that nearly a third of Australians regretted their accommodation choices and nearly a quarter wishing they’d had a romantic fling, the team at 1Cover decided to use the insight of ‘holiday regrets’ as the theme for the 2019 competition.
1Cover have partnered with the Melbourne Comedy Festival, the third largest international comedy festival in the world, and hope that the competition will offer comedic talent a springboard into the world of comedy.
Managing Director of 1Cover Travel Insurance, Eddie Feltham says: “I’m a massive comedy fan and so are a lot of the team at 1Cover, so it makes sense to support the Australian comedy community where we can. In fact we’ve continued to work with the winner Tim Batt, as well as runners up Leigh Qurban, Kevin Gordon, and Blake Malone.
Last year’s $10K winner Tim Batt says “[After the competition], I got the opportunity to make some more videos for 1Cover which allowed me to stretch my legs creatively…1Cover have been awesome and I think it’s great they’re working with comedians…it makes sense because insurance is NOT a concept I associate with fun.”
Feltham agrees, and says “Travel Insurance tends to be a grudge purchase, so we’ve always tried to inject some fun and humour into our communications. Comedy is a great link to travel because people always have stories to tell after their holiday – and often very funny stories!”
With $15,000 in prizes to be won, the competition is well worth entering for anyone looking for a leg-up in the comedy world. The first prize winner will receive $10,000 in cash, the runner up will win $2,000, and the People’s Choice winning $3,000. The People’s Choice is based on a video getting the highest number of likes.

To enter, prepare a 90 second comedy routine by answering the question ““The one thing you regret about that holiday.”” Record your routine in landscape format (16:9 ratio) less than 30MB and submit your video recording here. The competition is open to Australian & New Zealand residents. Entries close midnight Sunday the 30th June 2019.
