Introducing the world’s first smoked rum. The result of an artisanal approach fuelled by the desire to reinvent the century old rum category.

Capturing the essence of a fresh brew, STOLEN use re-fractionated Colombian Arabica coffee, wholly distilled from same-day roasted beans. The warm, roasted flavour is complemented by the creamy sweetness and velvety texture of premium Madagascan Vanilla bean and Moroccan fenugreek tinctures. The rum is rounded off with smoky tones of American Hardwood, an essence acquired through a process called pyrolysis. This means that the hardwood is first burnt at a very high temperature, then, in the absence of oxygen, the initial smoke condensate separates, rises, is captured in a chamber, condensed and cooled into a liquid.

The infusion of these premium natural ingredients sourced from around the world, and this unique smoking process, add delicious and complex layers to a base of aged Caribbean rum. The result is a smooth, medium-weight body and a generous bouquet. The aromas of vanilla and toffee mingle with cacao and roasted coffee. On the palate, the deep profile of freshly brewed coffee, vanilla beans, warm caramel and dark chocolate mix with lingering wisps of charred oak for a long, smooth, smoky finish.

The STOLEN story started in 2010 when two rum-loving Kiwis gave up their corporate jobs to follow their passion and bootstrap their way into the spirits business. They launched STOLEN from their apartment in Auckland, New Zealand, introducing award-winning rums to Australia, New Zealand, and the US. Along the way, they developed STOLEN into a unique lifestyle brand, inspired by the punk movement and premium street fashion, devoid of any of the cliché’s attributed to traditional rum brands.

How do we drink it?

– Sipped neat over ice
– Stolen Smoked tastes brilliant in any rum, rye or bourbon cocktail and it makes a killer smoked espresso martini
– Standard pour: Smoke and Stormy (with Ginger Beer/Ale) garnish with orange slice
– Standard pour: Smoke and Coke (with Coke) garnish with orange slice

NOTE: Always garnish Stolen Smoked with an orange slice in standard pours.


Stolen Smoked Espresso Martini
45ml Stolen Smoked Rum
30ml Espresso
10ml Coconut Syrup
10ml Agave Nectar
Pinch of salt
Add all ingredients to a shaker; shake with ice, double strain, serve in martini glass. Garnish with coffee beans.

Smoke & Stormy
30ml Stolen Smoked Rum
150ml Ginger Beer
2 Dashes of Bitters
Garnish with Orange wedge
Fill a lowball glass with ice. Add 30ml Stolen Smoked, top with Ginger Beer, two dashes of bitters and garnish with orange wedge

Smoke and Coco
30ml Stolen Smoked Rum
5ml sugar syrup
150ml Coconut water
Garnish with Pineapple
Fill a lowball glass with ice, add 30ml Stolen Smoked and sugar syrup, top with coconut water and garnish with pineapple.

Smoked Bloody Mary
Stolen Smoked Rum
60ml Tomato Juice
10ml Fresh Lemon Juice
5ml Worcestershire Sauce
5ml Sugar Syrup
1 Lemon Slice
Celery Salt (optional)
Ground Black Pepper
Tabasco Sauce
Celery Sticks with leafy tops
Build in a tall glass over ice.  Add Stolen Smoked, tomato juice, lemon juice, sugar syrup and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in a pinch each of celery salt, ground black pepper and a dash of Tabasco sauce to taste. Garnish with celery sticks and lemon slice.
