The Happy Mexican Launches at Sydney’s Iconic Lansdowne Hotel
Get ready, Sydney! The legendary ‘The Happy Mexican’ from Melbourne is making its grand entrance at the iconic Lansdowne Hotel. To kick things off, they’re throwing out 500 tacos and tequila shots for free in April, 2024. It’s fiesta time, no RSVP needed!
From April 10th, folks can swing by their new Sydney spot daily for some mind-blowing free tacos that’ll make taste buds dance, paired with a shot of tequila to keep the spirits soaring.
And there’s more where that came from – The Happy Mexican will also be serving up $2 tacos throughout April from 5-6pm every evening. Expect a lineup of mouth-watering flavours like juicy roasted chicken breast, zesty marinated pork, crispy beer-battered fish, and their signature blockbuster, slow-cooked beef birria tacos, plus delicious delights such as Calabacitas and Nopales.
The Happy Mexican’s dedication to authentic Mexican flavours has captivated a loyal following in Melbourne, and now they’re set to take-over Sydney. Julian Romero, the visionary behind it all, is excited to bring a slice of Mexico to Sydney’s dynamic atmosphere and diverse communities. Head chef Jesus Rios, hailing from Mexico City, brings over two decades of Mexican culinary mastery to The Lansdowne Kitchen. He’s on a mission to challenge Sydney’s adventurous eaters “serving up a spectrum of unique, authentic flavours straight from the heart of Mexico to Chippendale.”
Highlights from the menu include the acclaimed Quesabirrias, corn tortillas stuffed with rich, slow-cooked beef in Jalisco Birria style and Oaxaca cheese, served with a side of savory broth. Plus, a vast selection of tacos, delectable share plates like Chilaquiles, and options for vegetarians, vegans, gluten-free, pescatarians, and meat lovers alike. The drink menu doesn’t hold back either, featuring creamy Piña Coladas, zesty Palomas, fresh Mezcalitos, and an array of spicy, classic or lychee Margaritas, alongside a selection of beers on tap for the Lansdown locals.
The Lansdowne will still retain its historic charm with dark, rock and roll interiors with a subtle Mexican flair, complemented by live music to entertain guests throughout the week. The venue also offers space for private functions, with ample room for events both big and small for up to 500 guests.
Conveniently located on the corner of Broadway and City Road, The Happy Mexican welcomes diners for lunch or dinner on Wednesday to Saturday from 12pm until late. The Lansdowne rooftop will also be open for tasty food and drinks every Friday and Saturday to soak up the rest of the warm weather before winter.
