9 Fun Things to Do This Summer
School is finally over and your summer vacation can begin! You have surely counted the days waiting for the summer break, but now that it is here, do you have any idea how you want to spend it? It would be a shame if you didn’t make the most of it, since before you know it, school will start and you won’t have a lot of free time. If you were too busy studying and you don’t have time to plan your summer, do not sweat. Here are some great activities you can try out this season.
Watch old movies
There is a good reason why some movies from the last century are still very popular nowadays. Whether you prefer black and white romance motion pictures or classics from the ‘80s, make sure you put them on your to-do list this summer. You can watch them alone or organize a movie marathon with your friends. Popcorn, drinks and comfy pillows and the party can begin.
Check out thrift stores in your area
Have you ever visited thrift stores or garage sales? If not, you have no idea what you are missing! These places offer a ton of cool stuff you can buy for only a couple of bucks. Check them out and get something fabulous for yourself or your room.
Declutter your room
Speaking of garage sales, why don’t you organize one yourself? It could be a great opportunity for you to declutter your room and even earn some cash.
Camp out in the garden
Maybe you wish to pack your bags and travel to Bali like the guy from Big Booty Fish, but your parents would probably lock you up in your room before letting you travel across the world on your own. Fortunately, you don’t have to go far to sleep underneath the stars and have some outdoor fun. Camping in the garden is safe, and you and your friends can have a blast. Set up a tent, get a bunch of snacks and sleeping bags, some flashlights, and have a great time.
Learn to prepare a new dish
If omelette is the most complex meal you can prepare, take time this summer to learn to prepare something a bit more complicated. For example, macaroons are very popular these days and they are not so tricky to make. Surprise your friends or your family with your new skills and a delicious dessert.
Visit top attractions in your town
Are you familiar with all the hidden gems in your town? If not, it might be time to learn everything there is about the place you live in. Check out artsy coffee shops, see a play, visit a museum or find amazing spots where you can take pictures with your friends.
Try out a new sport
Physical activity can boost your mood and help you stay in shape this summer. Maybe exercising sounds boring, but it doesn’t have to be! Engaging in new sports activities with your friends can be incredibly fun, so try out Frisbee, get your own portable golf simulator, or take an interest in badminton. If you want to try a sport with a bit more of a ‘bang’, you could test your aiming skills by visiting a shooting range.
Spend a day at the beach
If you live close to the ocean, lake, or river, spend a day at the beach building sandcastles (no, you are never too old for it!). You can also organize a picnic with your friends, play beach volleyball or go for a swim.
Give your room a fresh look
Are you bored with your same old room? Then why don’t you give it a makeover? It doesn’t have to cost much, you just need to be creative. Move your furniture around, and if you don’t like some pieces, give them a fresh coat of paint. Turn your old, brown wooden desk into a cute mint one! Get some new cushions for your floor and create a cozy reading nook.
There are so many fun things you can try out this summer, so make a list and get going!
