Rolling Stone Awards

Rolling Stone Awards

Having topped the US charts, won three Arias and been nominated for four Grammy awards in 2014, Aussie songwriter Sia continues her rise with a nomination for Album of the Year at the 6th annual Rolling Stone Awards. Facing tough competition from fellow nominees the Preatures, the Church and Shihad, can Sia own every awards show covering 2014? The winner of this and eight other awards will be announced at a star-studded ceremony on Wednesday February 25th at Sydney’s Fox Studios. This Awards tops off a great year for Rolling Stone since the original editorial team took the magazine independent shortly before the last Awards, publishing the iconic title under the name Paper Riot.

The Rolling Stone Awards, celebrating the best in Australasian entertainment in 2014, will be a different beast this year, with an exciting new venue and new sponsors. There will be the usual free-flowing rivers of booze and delicious food as well as a feature performance from Single Of The Year nominee Ecca Vandal, with more to be announced.

Melbourne MC Remi tops the nominations list with four nods (Album of the Year, Best New Talent, Best Independent Release and Music Video of the Year), while Sydney band the Preatures (Album of the Year, Best Live Act and Music Video of the Year) and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard (Album of the Year, Best Independent Release and Live Act of the Year) both have three nominations.

Of the nine awards to be handed out on the evening, six have been voted for by a panel of Rolling Stone critics. The winners will be celebrated in the April issue of Rolling Stone, on sale March 5th.
