Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max Review: The Future Of Saving Water In Aussie Backyards

Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max Review: The Future Of Saving Water In Aussie Backyards

Across Australia, backyard pools are a beloved feature of summer, but they also quietly use millions of litres of water each year, along with the energy to heat it. For many households, managing a pool efficiently can be time-consuming, costly, and resource-heavy.

A new generation of AI-powered pool-cleaning robots and automated water-management systems – such as the Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max – is starting to change that. These smart tools help maintain water quality, prevent algae before it forms, and reduce unnecessary drain-and-refill cycles. Some even harness solar power to operate with zero emissions, making pool upkeep simpler and more sustainable.

The Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max represents the latest attempt to marry cordless convenience with high-end performance, positioning itself as a flagship model in a market increasingly dominated by autonomous robotics. Designed to navigate diverse pool surfaces, the unit utilises an array of 40 ultrasonic sensors to map pool geometry, a significant leap in complexity compared to older random-pattern cleaners.

We recently tested this flagship model to see if it could truly save water and energy – and effectively reduce those ongoing bills. The first thing you’ll notice when unboxing this beast is how well constructed it is. It boasts a rugged design with high-quality materials that ensures resistance to corrosion, water pressure, and environmental wear.

It’s got a bit of weight to it but is compact enough to move around – and best of all – is cordless which is super convenient! This does mean it will need constant charging but you can download the Aiper app to check on the battery status and view other cool features such as the pool map, to check cleaning logs, select modes and more.

One thing we picked up during usage was that we couldn’t use the app control when the device was underwater – it worked only when it was out of the water. While this would have been a nice included feature to have, there is an optional paid add-on app available – the Aiper HydroComm Pro – for those that wish to use it.

The Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max boasts a filtration capacity of 8,500 gallons per hour (GPH) which is quite impressive. We had it cleaning the pool for close to five hours in Eco mode which did a good job overall. With nine motors and a dual-jet system, it delivered powerful suction and precise movement to clean every corner.

We also tried it on the Max mode which had much stronger suction while scanning every inch of the pool. It made sure that no debris would be left behind and left the pool looking crystal clear. However the increase in power – featuring 32,000 LPH suction for deep cleaning – did give less cleaning time. So the device will require charging more regularly if using the higher power setting.

There are seven intelligent cleaning modes to ensure effortless, thorough pool maintenance. And the smart navigation auto-adjusts to any shape. It automatically adapted to our pool and will adapt to different surfaces, debris levels, and energy needs for optimal cleaning with minimal effort.

With two interchangeable filters, it captured everything from large debris to microscopic particles. The ultra-fine filter ensured the pool water stayed crystal clear. Once the job was done, it automatically returned to the water’s surface for a quick and easy pick up. Very handy indeed!

We were quite impressed with the Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max and can see just how it could make a meaningful difference when it comes to saving water and lowering energy usage. It can complete its cleaning tasks in a shorter time reducing the need for prolonged operation, conserving both water and electricity needed for charging.

It can also minimise water waste by recycling and filtering water within the pool, rather than relying on traditional pool pumps that use significant amounts of both water and energy. With its lower energy consumption and ability to customise cleaning schedules based on actual cleaning needs, it’s absolutely an environmentally friendly option for pool maintenance.

It does come with a high-end price tag – when compared to some of the other models – but in our opinion, the upgrade is absolutely worth it when you consider the water and energy you’ll be saving over the course of the year. Not to mention the savings to your ongoing bills!

With its efficient cleaning capabilities and energy-saving features, you simply can’t go wrong with the Aiper Scuba X1 Pro Max. If you’re a pool owner, do yourself a favour and check it out.

The Scuba X1 Pro Max is available now via the Aiper Store.
