Culture Bean
Culture Bean has been one of Kogarah’s favourite local café’s for the past five years. And it’s no surprise to see why with their famous Insta-worthy bowls being recognised as some of the best in Sydney.
Capitalising on a new wave of health-conscious diners, Culture Bean offers their customers a fresh, seasonal, refined sugar free menu that tastes so delicious you’ll forget it’s good for you. Think fresh juices, superfood smoothie bowls, coconut yoghurt, spirulina and chia galore with a variety of vegan options to boot. The interior is rustic, featuring exposed brick and ceiling pylons with hanging lights and red accents. It’s a small space with a homey feel, always brimming with locals – so you know the food is going to be good.
If you’re thinking of popping in anytime over summer, their Amazon Power Acai Bowl is an absolute must-try. Served iced cold, it is as refreshing as it gets topped with spelt maple muesli, coconut shavings, strawberries, banana, blueberries, passionfruit and chia seeds. Colourful, mouth-watering and totally picture perfect – get this one into you to kickstart your day!
Other irresistible breakfast dishes include the cultured crumpet stack with CoYo, pistachio crumble and seasonal fruits or the Choccie Monster smoothie bowl made with cacao, peanut butter, oats, cacao nibs and chia. Their version of Eggs Bennie offers a welcome twist on the standard breakfast classic, served on activated charcoal sourdough, house-cured salmon, baby spinach, avocado, and beetroot relish drizzled in yuzu hollandaise. Trust us that you’ll be quite full after devouring this one! They also do an amazing Breakky Bowl with quinoa, kale, roasted pumpkin, edamame, cherry tomato, avo, poached egg, and lemon dressing. Yet another Insta-worthy hit!
If you head there for lunch, options include the delicious Poached Chicken, the tender Beef Brisket roll with caramelised onion, kale, pesto and feta, or the famous Culture Burger with marinated chicken, haloumi, rocket, vine-ripened tomato, sun-dried tomato pesto mayo and hollandaise served on a charcoal bun.
We love our hidden gems and Culture Bean certainly belongs on that list being located in a residential area away from the main strip. With great service and a super healthy menu to explore, you’ll be wanting to hit up this place when you’re next in the Kogarah area.
