Firefly Neutral Bay

Firefly Neutral Bay

Established as a wine bar in 2004, Firefly has since grown to become one of Neutral’s Bay’s finest venues to enjoy a drink and a delicious meal.

Specialising in share plates and wine by the glass, one of the first things you’ll notice as you step inside is the infamous Pinot wall which features a plethora of wine bottles from eighty of the world’s best Pinot Noir producers. Current Pinot Noir specials: Gestalt (aromas of rhubarb, feijoa and sage) and Leyda Reserva (impressive red fruit & wild Chilean herbs) are a must-try.

Apart from the extensive wine list, there are also a number of classic cocktails, cocktail pitchers, craft beer, and ciders to choose from. We highly recommend the Double Espresso Martini – probably the best we’ve tried in Sydney!

The food menu contains a number of ‘Pork or Fingers’ options as a starter followed by a ‘More Substantial’ list to fill you right up. We would however recommend going for the Deluxe Sharing Banquet which gives you a great sample of the menu and at $55 per person, is easier on the wallet. The feast consists of:

Smoked Trout hand held salad – citrus coconut dressing
Duck Pancakes – shallot, hoisin sauce
Grilled haloumi – watermelon, toasted almond
Pumpkin Tortellini – beurre noisette, crisp sage
Canadian seared scallops – morcilla, pickled pear
Crisped Pork Belly – chilli caramel, asian herb salad
Roasted Lamb Rump – crushed minted potato, pea puree
Salad of Roasted Beetroot – feta, walnut, leaves

This can also be modified to accommodate dietary requirements which makes it an easy choice. On our visit, we swapped out the Crisped Pork Belly and opted for the Moroccan Chicken Skewers (quinoa tabouleh, tzatziki, and flat bread). We found it to be a highly filling and lip-smackingly satisfying meal.

If you find that you have room for dessert, there are some ‘Sweet Endings’ solutions including a warm chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice-cream, a Milky Bar cheesecake, and the Eton Mess (meringue, berries, cream). We found ourselves licking our fingers after sampling some of these delicious treats.

Firefly is one of the original pioneers of the small bar concept. The venue is really buzzing with an inviting feel-good atmosphere and is a must for Pinor Noir lovers – you’ll be in Pinot heaven!

Firefly is located on 24 Young st, Neutral Bay and is open Monday to Thursday 5-11.30pm, Friday noon-11.30pm, Saturday noon-11pm, and Sunday noon-10pm.
